Never thought I could love #2 as much as #1, but I do. They are SO different. #1 is smart and independent. #2 is a holy terror but much more cuddly and affectionate. I can't imagine my life without them both, although I'm sure then I would get more sleep. [ Reply | More ]

DOE has already said that unfilled slots will go to those who move over the summer. The only problem you will have is that the only d2 G$T schools that are likely to have spots are the ones in chinatown, so if you are moving to, say, the UES, that is quite far away and you might prefer your zoned school. sorry, not correct. just recently there was a long thread on ps 130 and a parent noted that she was sending her child there. and, even if it were, ub is a small pool of candidates and not representative of district. ps 130 and 124 are sought after schools in the communities they serve and are spots in their g&t classes are coveted by that community. and, all classes were oversubscribed in anticipation that not all offers would be accepted. if i were a betting woman, the better bet would be that there will be spots at ps 111, which is a new program in a school that is seemingly attended by only a portion of the community it serves, with private schools being the option instead. Have you ever relied completely on someone for financial stability (which is what will happen if you go for the rich guy - you'll never be able to afford what he can give you and you'll always be using his money)? I once was dependent, totally, on someone for a year, and the experience was suffocating and took away any sense of personal power I had, except to be manipulative. Never again will I rely on money. [ - ] In regards to an earlier post: I love that the incoming K classes at Anderson are more diverse than ever. I do not care if the DOE handpicked the dc to fill the spots. I just wish they DOE would TELL US how they got the 54 kids they made offers too. All of this he said/she said speculation is just making a bad situation for those who did not get spots, even worse. I know they we are VERY LUCKY and VERY GRATEFUL for the spot dc has there for next year. 26 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

If it's in response to an earlier post, why didn't you actually respond instead of starting a new one? There are now 3 or 4 threads on the exact same subject at the exact same time. This is why everyone is "bashing" Anderson. We are, quite frankly, sick of it. I did not test or apply, but many did, didn't get in, and feel badly. And then this constant bragging, all over the board, over and over? No one is denying you the right to discuss whatever you want. But why do Anderson parents consistently start 4 threads on the exact same subject, on the exact same day, and post in all of them? It's enough. Please stop. You're really ruining the reputation of the parent body at your beloved school. [ Reply | More ]

op: Anderson offered 54 spots (4 overaccepts) Nest offered 135 (10 over accepts). Anderson, Nest, PS 9 g&t were filled with 99's. TAG filled with 99's and a few 98's (no word yet as to how many actully accepted the TAG spots). 447 99's- some got even 3rd or 4th choice school. A and 9 had building preference for all sibs. Nest is trying to work with those outside bussing lines. If you live in Manhattan and qualified for a district G&T, but did not get a placement because you did not list all the options, you should IMMEDIATELY contact Nicky Kram Rosen at nrosen2@schools.nyc.gov, if you are still interested in a placement. Give your child's name, ID number, date of birth, address, phone number, email and a prioritized list of any G&T program you would consider THAT YOU DID NOT LIST ON YOUR ORIGINAL APPLICATION. So far, there is no intention to make seats available at a higher choice school to those who received a lower choice placement or no placement [ Reply | More ]

this could not be completely true as only 3 dcs who were non-sibs were picked to fill 6-7 spots. if ps9 had had full building preference, then all of the 1st graders coming in would have been from ps9 as many had 99s. the other kids offered spots were non sibs from outside ps9 [ Reply | More ]

But from what the OP is saying, the building preference was not well known. Maybe that explains it? [ Reply | More ]

but the current K G&T kids would only have listed anderson. still there were 2-3 kids outside of anderson/ps9 who were offered spots. btw, I heard this through the grapevine and do not know for sure. [ Reply | More ]

np: not true. all the kids came from ps9. the ps9 people are mad because they didn't know there would be building preference, so ranked ps9 first so as not to lose sib preference. many would have liked a shot at anderson for the MS. [ Reply | More ]

None of the K siblings got into A because they were told they had to list PS9 first to get a preference there. So only siblings applying for first grade got the preference, as at that point they would not list PS9 being already there. [ Reply | More ]

But most of the current K G&T kids don't have siblings at PS9 or Anderson so can't take advantage of it. You don't get preference yourself because you are at PS9 already. [ Reply | More ]

some people thnk there was a building preference for ps9 kids interested in anderson, or anderson kids or their sibs interested in ps9. that is what the rumor is, but no one really knows. [ Reply | More ]
