[ - ] Would you consider this offensive, or am I being too PC? DH is to give speech at friend's wedding. Wants to show photos with speech, one is of groom with a woman who is very overweight. DH's friend said he should put that photo in to embarrass groom, but I say, no, you are making fun of the woman and that is wrong. friend thinks I'm being too PC. Thoughts? 12 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

It is somebody else's wedding. The content of that speech is not vetted by bride and groom. For you to make that kind of scene is inappropriate. You want to walk out, fine. But that kind of grandstanding is just not polite. [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] Meeting with a potential new p/t babysitter today. I have three kids, but want to hire her a few times a week to watch my 3yo and 7mo while I work w/ my oldest on his occupational therapy. How much to pay an 18yo for watching 2 kids for 2.5hrs? She'd really only be taking them to the park, out for walks, etc... 5 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

I am in westchester and pay my summer college sitter (20 yrs old) $12/hr. she works part time for me on a flex schedule. since she doesn't pay atxes, it is more than she can make elsewhere. I have had some college girls ask for $15, but I think that is too much. I pay high school girls $10/hr [ Reply | More ]

i'd do 15. fwiw, taking 2 kids to the park can be kind of tough, esp at that age range-younger db may not be mobile and can only do swings, while older dc is running around. [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] Need paint advice:Want a crisp white for living room that gets loads of light. Decorators White looks fabulous in daylight and Chantilly Lace (is that a grey tinge or is that my imagination?) appears bright+warm at night. Any advice? Oh and I also have a swatch of Frostine looking rather nice right now! Tia for any advice on how to decide! 1 Reply [ Reply | Watch | More ]

get a pint of each, paint a big swatch of each on the matte side of a poster board(s) and just live with them for a few days - also put one on a couple of different walls. observe in different lights, day/night, natural/artificial and then eliminate any you don't like in any of the situations. any left after a week or so are your winners. We did it before we had children and I now regret it. Most of the world is adult-centric. Little is designed with children in mind yet they do make up a good portion of the population and will always be. [ Reply | More ]

not sure if you're breastfeeding, but if so, sounds like she's hungry. I can't remember if I was still feeding my baby every two hours or three hours at 10 weeks. something that worked well for me was cluster feeding at night, so every two hours at 7pm,9pm and 11pm and then go to bed myself. Then my baby slept until 6am which was nice. Good luck... [ Reply | More ]

sorry, but it's just totally unrealistic to expect a 10 week old to "usually' do anything. she is still getting used to the fact that she's on the outside. wait 2 days. what she "usually" does will change again. gl! [ Reply | More ]

I completely disagree. My DS and DD both slept 6 hour stretches at night by age 2 weeks, and they were both breastfed. I think by 10 weeks there should DEFINITELY be some sort of routine in place! [ Reply | More ]

Don't mean to sound so obvious, I imagine youve done all the satndard things? Make sure nothing is wrong in the room - it happened to us when our child was around that age. I won't tell you what the something was, but all was not right in the room and he knew it. [ Reply | More ]
