Will you be okay if it's not a linear process? In other words, you might not conceive right away. Or once you conceive, you could miscarry. [ Reply | More ]

It was not a linear process last time--had 2 m/cs before we realized I had a clotting problem, but once fixed easy easy pg. I got pg. 1x all three times, but lost a year due to m/cs. [ Reply | More ]

The clotting problem would make me nervous about waiting. That said, I am totally ignorant about it. If you think the approach you used last time will work just fine, then it wouldn't be a factor. [ Reply | More ]

a lot of reasons. moving abroad for a year, I have some issues which mean I would feel more comfortable doing it here where I had #1. Also I think DH and I are not quite recovered enough from #1 to do it right now. I know a lot of people who did it fast b/c of age and their marriages collapsed under the weight of 2 under 3 or whatever. [ Reply | More ]

I totally disagree with the comments you should return the money to improve relations with inlaws. BTDT with problem inlaws and it won't help to return the money. If there were no loan papers signed then consider it a gift, and they can't force you to pay the 50k. GL with all. (BTW I am not an attorney but do have wealthy dh and I am totally familiar with "co-mingled" vs separate inherited $$. Without the paperwork, and given your dh co-mingled the money from his family with joint money (and with your combined asset) they have little to defend their position. The main point though is if you give in on this they will think you are some kind of pushover and they will continue to take advantage. [ Reply | More ]

i would def not give it back. Your first priority is your ds, not some deceiving il. Plus do you really think that the relationship will magically get better because you gave them the money. highly doubt it. plus maybe your dh put them up to it, that way him and his parents could keep the money plus his part, which i doubt he would ever give back, and you end up with less money. no way. i wouldnt even think about it twice. It won't help your relationship with them, probably. He can barely help you at all financially. You need the money. Legally, you've got a much much stronger case than they do. So keep the money. I'd only give up the money in exchange for soemthing else I wanted from him/them. Sorry you're going through this. [ Reply | More ]

I can understand why they kept truth from you, although of course, it was wrong. They have one kid who can't leave home; this was a way to help the other kid succeed. And they could have rationalized that it was in the past. And they could have rationalized that it was not their place to tell you, but his, and they didn't want to get between you and him. And I can understand why they might want the money back - it was for him, not for you, and why would they give you so much money? If there wasn't a child, I wouldn't think they were wrong for wanting the money back. But since there is a child, he has a responsibility. And since he can't fulfill his responsibility, and they held back information that has put you in this positiion, they have a responsibility. In other words, they may indeed be evil, but I can't say that based on this information. [ Reply | More ]

we subscribed to that but don't like it. it's very commercially oriented, with lots of marketing for movies. [ Reply | More ]

These were our top two choices, DS is going to Dalton. We would have done either, but I think Dalton is much more standardized while being progressive, also stronger in science and actually promotes some sports (st. ann's really doesn't) [ Reply | More ]

Yes. We ended up at Dalton because we made it our FC and did so because of these reasons. The pros on the side of St. Ann's is it is more eclectic and had potential to be an even better place for a creative DC, but we are more conservative as parents and felt better with the "sure thing" and DS's interest in science. Another pro for St. Ann's is for younger sibs-they start at 3yo if that is important to you; Dalton doesn't start until K [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] Just moved into house and DH and his family are freaking about the stairs. They put in gates and all, but how long do you really need them? DS is 16mos. If you have stairs, when did you stop using gates? My cats and older dd aren't enjoying them!! 5 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

we moved into our house when my twins were 26mos, and we didn't put in any of our gates on the stairs. but, they did get a lot of practice time with us from 18-24 mos. [ Reply | More ]

I stopped using gates once it was obvious that dd was Ok going up and down on her own. Obviously, that is different for every kid. We didn't have them on all stairs though since cat could not get past them. [ Reply | More ]

We used gates in our old house (curved staircase) w/ DS. When we moved into our new home DD was about 18 months and we just didn't put any gates up at all--three floors, wood stairs. Never been a problem. They both learned to negotiate them very quickly. [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] i didn't need my nanny full time anymore and had offered her a part time summer job. she declined and said she had gotten an internship somewhere. now i found out that she's been looking for a childcare job. i guess she didn't want to work for me anymore, at least not the hours i was offering. i wish she would've just told me. 3 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

So many nannies are like this. Want to avoid confrontation. Many "relatives die" or nannies just don't show up one day when they want to quit. [ Reply | More ]

i have the graco side by side stroller. i think it's the duo glider or the duo rider. (one is the front/back the other is the side by side. i can never remember). i like it. great baskets, pushes reasonably well. it does what it needs to do and isn't expensive. [ Reply | More ]
