[ - ] i am hiring waitstaff for a party this weekend. i orinally wanted 5 people. this includes 2 bartenders and 3 people to pass and serve food. well i cancelled one of the bartenders. i decided to hire another bartender who i felt could best make the type of drinks being served (martinis). anyway my contact for the first group sent me an email stating the revised price plus a $25 flat fee if they had to provide any assistance to the other bartender, i.e. stock glasses and get ice. wtf????? i am paying them to work the entire EVENT, not portions of it. not sure how to handle. 15 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

np: i'm not totally sure if i agree. i've seen too many people who hired caterers for important events (weddings, etc) and just assumed the caterer was going to do a nice job and they don't always. i think a good hostess does micromanage to a certain extent. that said, i don't understand the op's post very well. is the extra bartender bringing his own equipment? is the equipment being supplied by a third party, other than the waitstaff? my ds did this and at 3 yo still sometimes hits not often anymore. we would take his hand and gentle rub it on our cheek saying gentle touch. it good if you can catch it before he does it and tell him gentle gentle. if he keeps doing it put him down and walk away. Hypertension is a pretty serious complication for both you and the baby. Get induced. If you say no, you'll probably proceed into a crisis that will require emergency intervention and puts your and the baby's life at risk. [ Reply | More ]

OP: so it seems that no one goes against their dr's wishes. I have done a lot of research on this and it seems there is no evidence that stable mild hypertension late in preg has material risks. I know that the dr. wants to prevent that 0.1% chance, but honestly I don't think that is worth trading into a 25% chance of c-section with induction. [ Reply | More ]

I think you're underestimating the risk of hypertension-related complications AND their severity, while overestimating the risk of a c-section from induction. The severity of the risk of the former far outweighs the severity of the risk of the latter. But if you're comfortable with your decision, then discuss with your doctor. [ Reply | More ]

I think, you need to think again. You are not a doctor. The internet is not "research". If you don't think your doctor is up to par then find another one. But to put your health and/or the babies health at risk because you fear a C section is not prudent. You have delivered vaginally before, chances are very good that you will again. Many, many are induced and have uneventful vaginal deliveries. Actually far more than end up with a c section. [ Reply | More ]

I think you make a mistake considering this to be the doctor's "wishes." It is the doctor's medical opinion of the best choice for you -- disagreeing is dangerous unless you are really qualified to make a medical decision, or get a second opinion. From a doctor. [ Reply | More ]
