I can't leave them alone for more than 5 minutes without hearing my youngest cry or squeal. I am getting tired of doing damage control. Is she jealous? 2 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

She needs to understand that this is something she can do best for herself. Make sure she knows exactly how. Have her practice on a doll, or with you in bathroom as coach. Then you and Nanny must stop doing it. She will be motivated to do it in order not to have the discomfort of moist underwear. [ Reply | More ]

my parents never showed any signs of racism until my sister's son was born... they selected a name that was, unfortunately at that very time, in the press in relation to an african american... you wouldn't believe the thrashing they got about naming their son with a "black name" ... my father actually went as far as to "whiten" his name and call him only by the twisted new name he came up with. this lasted for the first year - at which time he finally stopped when he realized how adorable and lovable my nephew is. I still get upset... my sister on the other hand just lets it go. But she never considered, even for a moment, about changing her beloved son's name. [ Reply | More ]

When I was a baby my grandmother on my dads side (who we ended yup almost never seeing) called me a lame nickname, and my mom was so mortified she called me by my middle name. Which stuck. She tried switching to my real 1st name a few times, but I hated this b/c i didn't feel like it was my name. Eventually changed it on driver's license, SS Card etc. Now mom wants me to name dd with my middle name, but it has been ruined for me by the ongoing irritation over it. So STICK TO THE NAME, ignore MIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The whole thing still makes me angry thinking about it. [ Reply | More ]
