[ - ] I'm really glad we have an African American candidate, I think it's wonderful. But I can't help thinking he's going to lose, because his campaign, his supporters, and the press all just don't get it. They don't get how sad it is that the a woman who was equally, if not more, qualified was trashed and demonized, and her supporters were shouted down constantly. They don't get that you can't just order people to get into their place and support you. They don't get that the way she was treated was wrong, and people will remember that. That they have not only alienated women, but other core parts of the democratic party. They don't get that it is not racist to think of yourself as a "hard working white american". I wish I could believe he will be elected, but I don't think he can. 65 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

I think he can, but also think it would be a very good thing for him to choose her as his running mate. Basically telling her that she lost and it's time to disappear does nothing except piss off very close to half (or more than half, if you count MI and FL) of the voters. [ Reply | More ]

I am over it. I am not voting for him. I think he's going to lose. Hopefully, she won't be his vice president and he can lose on his own. He made a big mistake in winning this way, in not courting the votes he needs. If he does win, I'll be glad for him, but I don't think he'll be a very effective president. I just don't have much faith in him, and in the way that he won the nomination. He seems to be a product of the political system, and when he claims not to be it seems hypocritical to me. She did not get trashed any more than Obama has. I am offended by sexism as much if not more than most people, and I agree that sexism played a role, but it was NOT the only factor. She made many mistakes in her campaign, and was very heavy-handed in the end. Still, if by some strange quirk she had managed to pull it off, I would have not only voted for Clinton but worked for her to get republicans out of office. Any democrat who won't do the same because his/her feelings are hurt by a rough political process is extremely self-centered as far as I'm concerned, if they'd rather let the republicans win than get over their anger. And, btw, I was offended by the divisiveness of hardworking white American, since I fail to see the difference between hardworking white and hardworking black Americans, or the point of phrasing it that way, unless the goal was to divide people [ Reply | More ]

My K likes school. Has several friends. He loves some of his specials -- others not as much. This is partly about the teacher (he loves the art teacher and the chess teacher) and partly about him. He brings some stuff home. Not as much as pre-K but that is to be expected. Homework is worksheets (especially math), spelling/sight words, and a reading log. Then there is the odd project. (This week it involved bringing in pictures of family/self/house/etc.) The NEST homework horror stories are overblown in my experience. [ Reply | More ]

I ditto the K parent who responded previously. My K loves school and has several friends. She loooooooves the music, art and Chess teacher. She dosen't like the spanish teacher. Next year they are offering language choices of spanish or mandarin so we are switching languages because of the teacher. Other than that, she gets homework once a week and has several days to do it and the occasional project like taking pictures of the family/self/home. The older kids there I know say they have lots of homework but it doesn't sound that bad. [ Reply | More ]

Not really: 2,320 qualifiers for an entry grade. Say 80% returned their letters that leaves just about 464 people to call. If they assign 20 people 24 names each to call that is not a big deal (or 10 people 46 people to call) [ Reply | More ]
