[ - ] I had an HSG today and my right tube is blocked. Been TTC for over 2 years. Had first preg last year and miscarried at 13 weeks...no luck since then. Been through 3 cycles of IUI and it seems my right ovary is my "dominant" one b/c my eggs seem to be coming from there each month. My left tube looks like it is open. Has anyone had blocked tube and still gotten preg? Wanting to know what my next steps are. 3 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

I've read that the HSG will often flush out blockages. Is this your first HSG? Seems common that people tend to conceive shortly after having one. [ Reply | More ]

Sorry it has taken soooo long to reply!! This was my first HSG. I have heard about the HSG flushing things out, but I thought that would be during the procedure. My right tube is not all the way blocked....some of they dye was slowly leaking out. [ Reply | More ]

I went through a full pelvic ultrasound yesterday and they found a bleeding cyst on my right ovary, which may be causing the blockage, but who knows. My doctor is referring me to a RE but seems to be taking her time in doing so. They still want to try IUI this month...not sure if it's worth the money or not... [ Reply | More ]

call your insurance company and ask for someone who is accepting new patients and uses a type of therapy you are comfortable with. Then go check them out, if they suck, go to a different one. The intake (1st session) is usually free. [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] Some of the babies in my dd playgroup are speaking a lot, answering questions and making associations between things. The are 15 months. My dd is 14 mths and she says maybe 10 words. Is it your opinion that the kids even out eventually, or do the one's that start ahead, stay ahead. These babies seem really smart to me. 7 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

my 14mo didn't say much (much less then other kids) and now at 2 (24 mo) is talking up a storm and seems to be right in the mix of things. . even knows a bit more then some of the big talkers - some colors and letters whereas they are still in the parroting stage. [ Reply | More ]

I tried not to be competitive, but I finally asked ped if dd was ok at 18mo checkup and she said she was normal, but on the slower side. Literally at 19 -20 months there was an explosion of words and it's been non-stop ever since. It's so amazing and very cool! I love it. Today she said "Mommy Elmo dances" as she was making him dance. that is your best bet. And from everything I have heard, kids who do things very early is no indication of how they end up. Apparently my dh was an early reader. . and he is smart, but hates reading now and cheated a lot in college! You just never know ;) [ Reply | More ]

Thanks so much for your response. I do feel that she is doing fine, I don't mean to give off the impression that I don't, I am mostly curious if early talking is a sign of greater intelligence. [ Reply | More ]

I'm not but on insideschools.org, Liz Willen has written a year-long blog about her younger son applying to middle school (called Middle School Muddle). Her older son goes to Clinton & so she has written about it. Here are the excerpts where she mentions the school: [ Reply | More ]

My son’s middle school, the Clinton School for Artists and Writers, does not have small classes, athletic fields or other amenities typical of private and suburban schools. But everyone from the school aides to the parent coordinator and the principal has a sense of humor and perspective, the ability to roll their eyes at the awkward stages, behavior and sheer height differences that seem to shift daily. At school events, I’ve noticed swarms of kids hanging around the 7th-grade language arts teacher and the social studies teacher, for example. They look really comfortable, laughing and chatting about everything from music and books to friendship. These are teachers who give plenty of homework and expect a lot. But they also look like they are really enjoying these kids. And I am so relieved that someone does. [ Reply | More ]

My 7th grade son could have used one. He lugged a crammed backpack that may have weighed more than he does throughout his first year at Clinton School for Artists and Writers, which, like many Manhattan middle schools, requires a breathtaking climb because it occupies top floors of an elementary school. “You will break your back,’’ I insisted, watching him tote textbooks and notebooks for every class, even when there was no homework. Loose change, torn papers, dog-eared permission slips and old exams mingled with soccer gear. The thing smelled. “I don’t want to forget anything,’’ he replied. [ Reply | More ]

My older son declared that “cruel stories about hours and hours of homework’’ turned him off from listing Lab as his first choice two years ago, even though I hoped he’d want to go there. He was probably right to trust his own instincts. He’s been delighted with his first choice, the Clinton School for Artists and Writers -- smaller, less selective and strong in two of his favorite subjects – writing and art. [ Reply | More ]

I would happily trade the A at Clinton, where my oldest son attends middle school, for smaller class sizes, a music program, a soccer team and a well stocked, staffed and open after-hours library. [ Reply | More ]
