[ - ] MIL just called and left a message complaining of the heat..all she has is a fan and can't sleep, ect. AND????? We bought her an A/C last year, set it up and what did she do?? Gave it to her asswipe son who in turn SOLD IT for cash. This wasn't the first A/C we bought her and she gave away complaining it cost too much to keep. If she thinks we are going to buy her another one, she's nuts. We are not rich at all. 15 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

we're thinking about this age difference if we have #3, and I think it sounds good- the older kids are pretty independent, and also the oldest (for us) will be in K so our childcare expenses will be reduced somewhat by that. The disadvantage that I thought about yesterday- schlepping baby to soccer games, that kind of thing, because older kids are much busier. But I guess there are many #3 babies in the world who have gotten over being schlepped everywhere [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] I have a strange question. I had a miscarriage just over a month ago and took Cytotec to deal with it, which in retrospect wasn't the ideal decision because I have been bleeding ever since and my hormone levels are dropping very very slowly. Last week they were very low, so I opted not to have a D&C on the theory that it appears to be almost done. Today for the first time in a few weeks I feel very crampy, almost as though I have my period. Is it possible that I do - that the miscarriage process took so long that I actually have my period again? Obviously I will call OB, just curious if anyone has had this experience. TIA. 12 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

That's wonderful, so happy it's worked out for you. I have an 18 mo as well so hopefully this is just a glitch, and I will most definitely have a d&c next time (but hopefully there will be no next time!), at least for the certainty of getting this over with. Thank you again. [ Reply | More ]

it is possible and i would say likely that you have your period again. But, it is also remotely possible that your miscarriage is still not resolved completely and that is what is going on- which might mean you'd still need a d&c. This just happened to me- thought it was over, but it wasn't (i figured it out because i started having morning sickness, then did a preg. test and it was immed positive). So, def. call your ob, they shoudl do a sono problaby. good luck, and sorry. but it'll be cleared up soon. [ Reply | More ]

I don't know about Cytotec. I was given Methotrexate for a possible ectopic/failing pg. I only bled for a few days. It is possible that your cycle is out of whack and so you may be getting your period again. [ Reply | More ]

The way the Cytotec is supposed to work is to make you bleed for 3-4 days, and unfortunately it just didn't work that way for me and I'm still bleeding after 5 weeks. Hopefully it's my period by now - what a nightmare. Sorry for your loss as well. [ Reply | More ]

That's no fun, but all i can say (having just been through it) is that while the d&c is unwelcome ever, and especially when it's late, but in the end it resolved my M/C and i feel like it's over now. and that is good. [ Reply | More ]

That's what I'm thinking as well. Even though I've been going through this for so long so there is an argument to be made that it's almost resolved and I should just wait it out, I want it to really be over. If it's not resolved - and I'll know tomorrow - I'll just do the d&c. What a nightmare. Was so excited about dc#2. Thanks again. [ Reply | More ]

Did you call your gyn when the bleeding didn't stop after a week? I hope you don't still have tissue from the pg. I've had several m/c and there was one where the beta took longer to drop but not 5 weeks. Definitely call your gyn. I hope this is resolved quickly for you. [ Reply | More ]

Thank you. I did, and after 2 weeks of bleeding they did a sonogram and saw nothing, but since my hormone levels had not dropped enough I did another round of Cytotec. Last week the hormones had dropped enough that we opted to not do the d&c, but now I'm regretting it. 5 weeks is just so long. Seeing her again tomorrow. Thank you again. [ Reply | More ]

to the person who posted "just be grateful you can get pregnant:" (i can't respond to your response for some reason.) this is incredibly insensitive. people with fertility problems do not corner the market on disappointment. what if someone said to you "just be grateful you have a husband;" or "just be grateful you can walk." i'm sorry if you're having difficulty ttc but i'm so sick of women thinking this means they are the only people allowed to be disappointed with any aspect of their lives. I posted almost the exact same thing four weeks ago when we found out we are having ds2 (also planning only 2 kids). I felt this unexpected, overwhelming sadness (and then guilt, of course) when the tech told us it was a boy. Four weeks later, i still feel sad sometimes, like when I see a particularly cute little girl in an adorable dress or something. Or when I think about how much calmer and less disruptive girls tend to be...but I have also grown to love my new little guy as I've felt him move. Plus, the general preference for girls I've perceived among my friends ("Oh, *another* boy! Well, now you'll have to have three!") has made me feel ultraprotective of the new baby. Anyway, you aren't alone. [ Reply | More ]

Yes, my friend has a MIL that expects her to "handle" everything. Doesn't even call her son, calls my friend. Things like taking her to the doctor even though she is perfectly healthy, ordering things online for her because she refuses to use the computer they bought for her, shows up with packed bags unannounced for a week-long visit. That kind of thing. She's only in her early 60s, is married and FIL still works. I think she just has no life and wants my friend to provide one for her. [ Reply | More ]

np: IMO its the same wheter its your son or your daughter, with a few specific exceptions (childbirth, for one). every parent adn child can define their adult relationship differently. [ Reply | More ]

because your kid is only a baby and you are already putting all of these weird and twisted expectations on him. if you foster a loving (not smothering) relationship with your son that will continue into adulthood. [ Reply | More ]

how? they should respect that their dc isn't a small dc anymore. They need to have bounderies for a son or dd. They need to give their d-IL or S-IL respect and know when to give their 2 cents [ Reply | More ]

You have some odd ideas. My DH talks to his mom once a week, they emailmore frequently. There are no hard rules for how a man's mother is supposed to behavior. stop creating problems for yourself. [ Reply | More ]

My grandma who had 6ds and 1 dd, says that a mother of sons raises them to be good husbands not mamas boys. She has a great relationship with all 7 children, and not one daughter in law resents her. [ Reply | More ]

I agree. she is an amazing woman. Not only a great mother but she had quite the love affair with my gramps. They were so in love even after 50 years of marriage. [ Reply | More ]
