I just found out I am having my 2nd boy...while I am thrilled to have another boy and so excited for my 1st son I am terribly sad to think that I will probably never have a girl (we are only having 2 kids) Anyone else feel like this? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

a totally normal feeling. see how you feel after #2 is born. if after a couple years you want to try again, consider it. PGD with IVF is the only way to guarantee gender 100% though. [ Reply | More ]

to the person who posted "just be grateful you can get pregnant:" (i can't respond to your response for some reason.) this is incredibly insensitive. people with fertility problems do not corner the market on disappointment. what if someone said to you "just be grateful you have a husband;" or "just be grateful you can walk." i'm sorry if you're having difficulty ttc but i'm so sick of women thinking this means they are the only people allowed to be disappointed with any aspect of their lives. I posted almost the exact same thing four weeks ago when we found out we are having ds2 (also planning only 2 kids). I felt this unexpected, overwhelming sadness (and then guilt, of course) when the tech told us it was a boy. Four weeks later, i still feel sad sometimes, like when I see a particularly cute little girl in an adorable dress or something. Or when I think about how much calmer and less disruptive girls tend to be...but I have also grown to love my new little guy as I've felt him move. Plus, the general preference for girls I've perceived among my friends ("Oh, *another* boy! Well, now you'll have to have three!") has made me feel ultraprotective of the new baby. Anyway, you aren't alone. [ Reply | More ]

op: I really appreciate your post...I already love this little guy and know I will adore him 100 times more when he is born but the sadness is real and I fell guilty feeling this way. I hope over time it will go away. [ Reply | More ]
