We're still having timing issues (either is aware of it coming but doesn't want to sit and wait, or waits too long and goes in his underwear). He gets two chocolate raisins for poop, tho, and is beyond excited about the reward that he's never been afraid to poop in the potty. It's the hardest part of the training effort, though. GL!!! they like 3 day transfers unless you have a lot of eggs. You will always find a mix of opinions on this topic. NYU likes 5 day transfers. [ Reply | More ]
General Topics 06.11.08, 04:26 PM Flag
»
You don't have a choice. They want to do 5 day transfers because it decreases the odds of having multiples. You also want a 5 day because the wait until beta day is shorter! 5 day is a great result because it means the embryos looked good and were plentiful enough to let them go past day 3. That said, 3 day transfers are more prevalent because they're not always willing to take that chance, especially if you don't have a ton to work with. 5 day also means that in all liklihood you'll have some to freeze. Just do what they say. Don't jump for joy if they tell you day 5 and don't worry if they have you come in on day three. Actually, with my son they told me it would be a 5 day transfer and then called me on day three and told me to come in. Obviously things weren't looking as good as they had. And he's 6 now. So don't worry. They're the best. GL. [ Reply | More ]

Thanks. Dumb question but how does Day 5 decrease the odds of having multiples? [ Reply | More ]
General Topics 06.12.08, 06:56 PM Flag
»
Day 5 transfers decrease the chance of multiples because they transfer fewer embryos because there's increased liklihood of any one implanting. With me they tended to transfer 5 on day 3 and 3 on day 5. I was 39. To them multiples are not the desired result. As a mother of twin daughters, off the record I'd have to agree! [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] Need advice, please!! Been ttc for over 2 years. This was to be our third month of IUI. Had the first 2 IUI's with a nurse practioner. This month went through the doctor because they did a HSG test and full pelvic ultrasound. Should have received an HCG shot yesterday to prep for IUI. Instead the nurse gave me a Lupron shot. I have the package b/c she sent me home to self-administer. Found out that Lupron does the exact opposite of what the HCG shot does and I got a dose that is putting me in "menopause" for the next month. We are now unable to get pregnant for at least 2 months because we have to wait a month after the meds wear off to make sure everything is okay. They were very apologetic (I think they were in serious CYA mode). I was told a negligence report was being filed with the state and they were erasing all charges that occured this month (our insurance does not cover fertility, so we've been footing the bill for everything). I spoke to a laywer who told me to not give them the packaging or to sign anything. I haven't done either. I'm still in shell shock, as I found this all out today. I'm so angry, I don't know what to do. Not sure if I should expect more than just all charges to be forgiven. This has been an emotional roller coaster as it is and I've had to take multiple days off of work for all these tests just to have this month ruined. Any advice?? 12 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

I'm actually in Nebraska. The doctor told us to go ahead and try without IUI this month, but the nurse practioner said are chances are super low of anything happening. I don't want to sue...that would just be more emotional stress, but I feel that they should be doing more.... [ Reply | More ]

well - first off - you shouldn't be charged for whatever mess up they did. you won't be, will you? and i think the correct treatment (hcg shot) should be given for free simply b/c they cost you two precious months. i truly believe that doctors should be held more accountable without having to sue them. they should just do the right thing. I agree. DH and I don't want to sue...that can just turn into a big mess. They are not charging us anything for this month - all the tests and everything would have been about $1,500. I'm afraid the HCG shot at this point wouldn't do anything. And I will no longer be seeing this doctor because she has referred me to an RE. [ Reply | More ]
