[ - ] How would you rank your choices between MSC, ps9G&T, and PS166G&T (and if it matters, it's for a very verbal boy who tends to be dominant and a bit aggressive socially). 1 Reply [ Reply | Watch | More ]

What do you mean dominant an aggressive socially? Doesn't sound like acceptable behavior at any of those schools, and almost all kids are very verbal by the time their in K. Just pick the school you like best, since I don't think the attributes you describe make a difference. [ Reply | More ]

NP: I agree with OR. It's not going to change or get better. We go through this with our nephew - SIL blames my DD for getting pushed down stairs (only 3 stairs, she wasn't hurt, but still) and will not discipline her then 3 y/o DS for anything (including taking her cell phone out of her bag and throwing it into a lake). We've known them for a while. Kids are in school together. This is the first time her ds has done anything like that involving my ds (and I haven't seen that behavior in him before). I guess if the behavior continues, I'd stop seeing them. And, yeah, what the mom made no sense, but it's not the norm for her, either, as far as I know. It was just weird. [ Reply | More ]

Kids are 5, and friends, if it makes a difference. I think her ds was just having a bad day (or something going on at home?), and the mom wasn't thinking straight. If either behavior (his or hers) continues that way, then, no, we wouldn't hang out with them. DS wouldn't want to anyway. [ Reply | More ]

no it doesn't make a difference at all. hitting should never be tolerated, even if the kid is "annoyed." the mom sucks [ Reply | More ]

it depends on what's happening and why. things that are being thrown are taken away (including food), time outs for almost anything related to the dog (pulling her tail, stealing her toys, etc.). If she's melting down b/c she's tired, she's put to bed. [ Reply | More ]

there is a truly fabulous one in Graniteville on Staten Island, but this isn't where the UB crowd hangs out. It's enclosed, has a huge playground w/ structures of varying ability, a basketball court, a fake stream w/ bridges that kids splash in, sprinkler features, picnic area and a big lawn. it's the best designed playground I've ever seen. I went back to work when ds was 10 months old - something completely different. I'm basically an executive assistant, so it's low man on the totem pole, but the hours are great and the pay is $30/hour so it helps. Found the job thru the NYT classified, but that was 8 years ago. [ Reply | More ]

Moved from UWS to Westchester and absolutely love it, especially during the summer. I like that the towns are all pretty close together and that there really is a community of families. I see the same people at a lot of places and people are very friendly. Great resources and lots to do with children. I actually find it to be more diverse than the UWS and I love having space. (I just wish the taxes weren't so high.) [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] Plan to leave dh and have job opportunity that will help provide financial means to get out. I want dd to live with me but the problem is I will often have to leave for work at 5:30am. I really don't want dd to go back and forth from his place to my place and even if I have to leave for work super early, I'll still be home more often for dd. What are the odds I'll find a sitter willing to come to my place at that hour? Anyone btdt? 5 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

Where are you? You can almost always find someone to do a job. You would definitely have to pay for transportation at that hour. You would probably do better with live-in help if you have room. [ Reply | More ]

I feel the same (I posted above), but it really is the only practical way to have someone at your place at 5:30 in the morning. It's sometimes possible to find someone to live in Monday through Friday, but then you have to pay more since you are not taking care of board for her. [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] I like to keep 2yo dd as close to regular schedule as possible on the weekends when we see ILs but they seem to think it's ridiculous - they make fun of me in their passive aggressive way when I make an attempt to give dd a nap or get her to bed by 7:30/8pm. My dh's entire family is like this. It's a constant struggle. I've learned to let the schedule relax a little when the in-laws are around but dd usually melts down in their presence at some point. They don't get that it's the stimulation of having them in her face and the variance on the routine. Fortunately, they're not around too much. [ Reply | More ]
