this is op responding to poster below.. for some reason when I try to reply to your post it kicks me into log in page. anyway, here's my question. I'm on my fifth day of stims, and had bloodwork today. the nurse called in with my numbers -- 52.4 and said to increase the stims dosage (brevalle). The numbers seems awfully low from my research online. am worried this means I am a poor responder. Is it possible to catch up with an increase in dosage with a such low number to begin with? np: sorry I know nothing about the actual numbers, but I do know that I was told to increase my dosage (it was something other than brevalle, I've forgotten what) and no, I never did "catch up" -- ended up with only one good follicle so did IUI instead of IVF (which didn't work, although I did eventually become pg again, without ART). But different things happen for different people so you shouldn't give up hope. GL [ Reply | More ]

Little Red is better than VCS. The reason some people pick Little Red and VCS over their public is that they don't want to worry about not getting a good Middle School choice down the road. And VCS has exmissions people to help get into High Schools. [ Reply | More ]

My sense is there is a range. Academics are strong in that their are tremendous resources for a broad range of kids. but if you want dc in a room with very bright kids across the board, and academics targeted at a high level, you'd be better off at other privates, or public g&t or excellent gen ed. In the lower and middle schools of both, the curriculums are progressive and have a lot of project work and learning is mostly creative-ish. But they don't teach skills at all. Kids from these schools need tutors if they want to go to good high schools. They don't get taught grammar or how to write different types of papers. And they use TERC Math which messes them up completely. So academically they're not so much. [ Reply | More ]

If I were zoned for one of those publics no way would I pay for LREI or VCS. They're very sweet schools and I suppose the facilities are nicer, but academically I don't think there's enough difference to justify the tuition. I'd prefer to save my money and apply for MS. [ Reply | More ]

we know people at both schools. we toured lrei. i would do public over either of these schools. the one good thing about lrei is that it is visibly diverse, more so than most schools downtown, plus there is a lot of diversity that you don't see as much at other dowtown schools (single sex parents for example) [ Reply | More ]

I don't think they follow the progressive education model as much as they used to, so if you want progressive, you are better off at a 3 (though even they are changing as demographics of area change) or at one of the e. village schools (if you are D1). I also don't think lrei is well run [ Reply | More ]

We live downtown and applied to Friends, UNIS, Grace Church, Packer and Saint Ann's. We are zoned 41/3 and would have chosen public over LREI or VCS, so didn't apply to either of those schools. I was on the fence about Saint Luke's, but ultimately didn't apply because it seemed a bit too small (plus K-8). [ Reply | More ]

I have 2.5yo and 8mo so I'm sure things are different for you but here's what we do... 7.30 dinner and clearing up (kids play) then I run the bath and put toddler in. While he is playing in the water I dip baby in and out of the bath and dress him ready for bed. Then leave the baby on toddlers bedroom floor to play while getting toddler dry and ready for bed. Then sit and read a story to both. Put toddler into bed and then take baby to our room for final feed and sleep. [ Reply | More ]
