DS's friend socked him in the head today when ds said something that annoyed him. His friend's mom waits patiently for my ds to calm down ... and apologize to her ds for annoying him. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

NP: I agree with OR. It's not going to change or get better. We go through this with our nephew - SIL blames my DD for getting pushed down stairs (only 3 stairs, she wasn't hurt, but still) and will not discipline her then 3 y/o DS for anything (including taking her cell phone out of her bag and throwing it into a lake). We've known them for a while. Kids are in school together. This is the first time her ds has done anything like that involving my ds (and I haven't seen that behavior in him before). I guess if the behavior continues, I'd stop seeing them. And, yeah, what the mom made no sense, but it's not the norm for her, either, as far as I know. It was just weird. [ Reply | More ]

Kids are 5, and friends, if it makes a difference. I think her ds was just having a bad day (or something going on at home?), and the mom wasn't thinking straight. If either behavior (his or hers) continues that way, then, no, we wouldn't hang out with them. DS wouldn't want to anyway. [ Reply | More ]

no it doesn't make a difference at all. hitting should never be tolerated, even if the kid is "annoyed." the mom sucks [ Reply | More ]
