[ - ] I was moved into one area and the lead in that area treated people os badly that most wanted to quit and were looking for jobs, one guy left. Word got back to our boss and the woman was talked too but we always had a problem with her. WWYD in this situation? Our boss called us into a meeting without her and she targeted me to pick on, along with one other woman. 4 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

Anderson is using Everyday Math and the teachers supplement intelligently. However, there is still not enough drill and many of the kids hate EDM because it spirals. The kids who are quick at math get it the first time and are bored when they have to re-learn it over and over again. The kids who are not as quick, never get it the first time because not enough time is spent on it ("dont' worry we'll be doing this again, it spirals"). Some get it the next iteration, but others learn the lesson that they never have to get it, because it'll be coming around again. There is a narrow band of kids for whom it is okay, but many kids and parents are unhappy. Furthermore, it absolutely does NOT teach concepts except for really really basic concepts like addition, subtraction and multiplication. It's a mystery as to why anyone thinks this particular group of very smart kids need help with the concepts of addition, subtraction and multiplication. Where conceptual understanding would be useful, the Everyday Math curriculum offers none. DC is taking EDM and I've seen all the homework for years. [ Reply | More ]

I would work on getting up to 3 miles, then once you can do that comfortably spend two of your runs trying to do 3 miles faster, and 1 of them trying to go farther.
