DD is a little older, but you can either dream feed late at night (if he's not too old - I forget) or just wake up and it will pass. My DD always woke up that early at that age. Some books said to let her CIO but I figured it wouldn't last forever and I would just get up and play with her. It didn't last forever and I am glad I didn't leave her to cry in the morning (night a different story!) [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] I am totally freaked out. I was at a house this weekend w/ a pool...db (2 3/4 yo) and I were playing in the front...he went into the house and to the backyard and I didn't even realize for about 5 minutes b/c I was chatting with someone...he was totally by himself by the pool...I just can't believe I even let that happen. I am having nightmares about it. 2 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

I understand how you feel. Try to think of it this way: Things happen for a reason and to teach you things. So now, believe me, you'll never let that happen again. And maybe that's the point of what happened. Just decide to learn from it and try to let go. [ Reply | More ]

my son is 19 months old and he was my 1st pregnancy so i can related! Mercy is a fairly busy hospital but everyone I know that has had care there has been really pleased- they are definitely one of the smaller hospitals in the area. I used a midwife that I thought was just the greatest experience of my life but I know a lot of people are hesitant to go that route. I can recommend a couple of names if you are interested. Not to worry. Apparently parental pot smoking has absolutely no ill effects on babies, even in utero. Read that it's the least dangerous vice one could indulge while pg, and even regular pot smoking would do no harm. Paternal pot smoking should be fine. [ Reply | More ]

if paternal age can affect the risk for autism, it stands to reason that illegal drug use could also impact a DB. I am not talking about not drinking coffee, but drugs. [ Reply | More ]

Research shows that pot use can affect sperm count and function. I wouldn't worry about development of the baby. If he smokes daily, cutting back would be smart considering the health risks of smoke. But I wouldn't worry about occasional use or weekend partying. [ Reply | More ]

We haven't limited lovies for the kids (we did take the paci away from DS at age 2, but he kept his lovey) and it hasn't been a problem. You could say it's just for bed time & naptime--but really, they outgrow it on their own. [ Reply | More ]
