Good idea. It's easy. He goes into a room and they have some videos and magazines if he needs them and gives a sample and they check it. So much easier to start there than with you. Can't remember the name of the place we went to but I can find it or your dh's doc can surely recommend somewhere. [ Reply | More ]

And these things will help - don't let dh get in hot tubs or hot baths. Wear boxers not tighty whities. Sleep naked. Stop alcohol and caffeine if he can, don't take long drives - or use a laptop on his lap for long periods of time. [ Reply | More ]

Ok, then this is what I suggest. Assuming you want two children. have dh checked asap. Make an appointment with an RE for a month from now (it will take that month and then a couple more months for testing and results to come back - and then you are looking at ttc for seven/eight months. Don't wait. You and your eggs are not getting younger. Hopefully, you will be pregnant before you go to RE - but make the appointment anyway. At 31 - 32 when db is born, ttc second after a year or two puts you at 34 - 35. You don't really have all the time in the world. It only gets harder after 35. Good luck! [ Reply | More ]

At 5 months trying and 31 years old, you shouldn't be worried. You have plenty of time, even if you want more than one child. Typical wait time for seeing an RE is 12 months of trying at your age. I'm 36 and having my first. It took over a year, and I'm still confident that we'll have more than one if we choose to. The semen analysis is a good idea, but you sound very healthy. It's very normal for it to take more than 5 months. [ Reply | More ]

just that it's a good school, and a hard decision to leave, considering kids are happy and receiving a great education - and I'm wondering if it's worth giving them a new/different growing up experience with grass and trees. Plus the work load at A. is very, very heavy and it's a bit stressful. Just looking to enjoy my kids more. I'm seeing such a big diff. in the summer in their personalities and want to have more of that. [ Reply | More ]

Not to get in intially, but if you move out of town while your child is already enrolled in a NYC public school, you have the option of continuing to attend, but you have to pay tuition to the city (not the school). Our friends moved to Westchester while kid was at Delta and kid even went on to Bx Science for a year before switching to local Westchester HS. [ Reply | More ]

again, OP here. no no no. My kids (I think) would love a yard of some sort. They like school, and I would not want to move to the burbs if their education would suffer, or if they'd suffer socially. They adore their friends. I just think that the workload is a lot and combined with the fact that they would enjoy outdoor life. It's not about money; but we would have to afford a house and the taxes. [ Reply | More ]

There are a lot of nice suburbs, but keep in mind that kids in the Millburn, Scarsdale, etc. school systems are also stressed out. If you fly for work NJ might be good b/c you can get to Newark Airport quickly. The Midtown Direct line is good. Honors at Maplewood/South Orange HS is good - your kids don't sound like they would get lost in the shuffle. You can look at South Orange, Millburn, Chatham for the vibe you like. [ Reply | More ]

Consider a modest second home within 2 hours of new york, great getaway for the family and if you telecommute you can do it from there. I do this with my smart phone and it works well. we paid 150K for a 3 BR 2 BA house in a lake community in Sullivan County. Kids love it up there. Best of both worlds. And, you won't have to give up A. [ Reply | More ]
