ITA. Did you FC PAC? There is no secret that it is play based and they are really proud of it. That said when my dd was 3 she showed a very strong interest in writing letters and they really encouraged it and provided activities to encourage her curiou sity. [ Reply | More ]

If you didn't know that it was play-based, then you shouldn't have applied. It also seems that Montessori is not a good fit for you. Your kids probably need something more traditional. [ Reply | More ]

no. you need to read the fine print. 15th amendment to constitution allows citizens to vote regardless of race, color or previous servitude. The voting rights act prohibits states from making laws that circumvent the 15th amendment. things like reading tests and other measures. they have to keep renewing this piece of legislation b/c the sadly some among us still want to disenfranchise voters, particularly those who are poor and of color. some legislators feel that there is no need for voting rights act anymore b/c these types of practices don't take place, but as we can see from our two most recent national elections they do. Just moved. We live in Greenacres. All the elementary schools are good so the major differential is based on what you want the other kids to be like. Edgewood goes to Edgewood Middle & Edgewood H.S. We were told by some people we know who teach at the middle & high school level that Greenacres is the most down-to-earth & Quaker Ridge is the wealthiest. We opted for down to earth... we had an option to buy in Quaker Ridge & Fox Meadow, but we are happy here. sorry if typos, using 1 hand... baby on shoulder [ Reply | More ]

Np: Grew up in Scarsdale. Edgewood is in the Scarsdale school district goes to Scarsdale MS and Scarsdale HS. Edgemont has a Scarsdale P.O. but a separate school district. All 5 Scarsdale elementaries are equally good educationally. The difference is probably in the demographics of the schools, but they're all pretty upper-middle class. [ Reply | More ]

Just curious, why wouldn't you? Lots of Jewish kids go to non-sectarian or Christian founded schools that have chapel like E and B, can't speak for PAC, didn't tour it. I don't disagree with you, just wanted to understand your thinking, don't all schools need some diversity? [ Reply | More ]

NP: THe Y calls itself "A Jewish Preschool." The other schools you mentioned make no mention of religion. All holidays or none are celebrated at the non-sectarian preschools. [ Reply | More ]

Good point: Episcopal only offers 5 days/week regardless of DC's age. I think Brick is the same, and it only accepts 2.9 and up. PAC and the Y are probably the only 2 that offer MWF options for 2s. [ Reply | More ]
