Just moved. We live in Greenacres. All the elementary schools are good so the major differential is based on what you want the other kids to be like. Edgewood goes to Edgewood Middle & Edgewood H.S. We were told by some people we know who teach at the middle & high school level that Greenacres is the most down-to-earth & Quaker Ridge is the wealthiest. We opted for down to earth... we had an option to buy in Quaker Ridge & Fox Meadow, but we are happy here. sorry if typos, using 1 hand... baby on shoulder [ Reply | More ]

Np: Grew up in Scarsdale. Edgewood is in the Scarsdale school district goes to Scarsdale MS and Scarsdale HS. Edgemont has a Scarsdale P.O. but a separate school district. All 5 Scarsdale elementaries are equally good educationally. The difference is probably in the demographics of the schools, but they're all pretty upper-middle class. [ Reply | More ]

Do you know how the school is for kids with minor special needs (ie mainstream but needs some services)?> [ Reply | More ]

IMHO scarsdale is the worst with giving services to cpse and cse. if your child has sensory issues they do not "believe in these". [ Reply | More ]

Re: IMHO scarsdale is the worst with giving services to cpse and cse. if your child has sensory issues they do not "believe in these". Thanks for this response...yes, my child has sensory issues and some minor pragmatic language issues. I will have to look into this more...is edgemont any better? [ Reply | More ]

not sure about edgemont, but trust me from having gone to cpse meetings in Scarsdale, the committee plainly states that they do not believe in Sensory issues. If you are seriously thinking of moving there, reach out to the district first Michael Mendelson and feel him out. [ Reply | More ]

NP: I've heard that Mamaroneck is a better district for CPSE services, but don't know enough to elaborate. Did you try posting on the Special Needs board? [ Reply | More ]

this is wrong info...there is NO edgewood middle school and edgewood HS? It's just an elementary school. Then all the kids in Scarsdale go to the middle school and the high school. Jeez have correct info if you are going to give it. [ Reply | More ]
