So just learned that vegans can't eat honey, can't eat gelatin (and hence candy like gummy bears) ... anything else?? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Look, there are Christians out there who take the lord's name in vain, and that doesn't mean they aren't Christian. Nobody's perfect./ [ Reply | More ]

Taking the Lord's name in vain doesn't make you not Christian. If you said there are Christians out there who pray to Allah, that doesn't make them not Christian"then it would be better [ Reply | More ]

I meant they do things in violation of the basic 10 commandments. Vegans strive to be perfect vegans, but in the US, it is virtually impossible. [ Reply | More ]

Aw, that's sad. So you can only ever be an aspiring vegan. There's something very poignant about that. [ Reply | More ]

gelatin or something like it. I know people who aren't vegans who are scared to eat altoids since it's from UK and contains cow products because of mad cow. [ Reply | More ]

Wow. That seems a bit far-fetched, doesn't it? I mean, I know you can get mad cow from meat - but from altoids?? [ Reply | More ]

Well, anything else that exploits animals (gelatin is made from the hooves of animals). Lots of things. If the processing involves animals, it is out. [ Reply | More ]

It's actually pretty easy once you get the hang of it. So you don't eat animal products...so what? There are so many veggies, legumes, nuts, and fruit out there to create an endless supply of recipes. It's really easy now-a-days to get access to excellent vegan products (candy, faux cheese, faux meat) to make getting the proper nutrition and not feeling deprived an easy possibility. It's an interesting and fun way to live kind. [ Reply | More ]

Well, their argument is basically that dairy cows are hurt in the process - confined, maltreated, etc. I think the basic vegan argument is not just about health, but also about "reducing animal suffering." [ Reply | More ]

Not intestine. Stomach lining. And they don't leave it in--it gets fished out once it starts the process. There is some enzyme in it. [ Reply | More ]
