for the same reason anyone feels affinity for their heritage. until recent history, persia was a culture unto itself and people of all faiths were proud to part of it. it's only a couple of generations that the Shah broke it all up, so their grandparents teach the kids that they are persian jews and discuss their history [ Reply | More

you guys have it wrtong. my family is from iran since way back and they are armenian. do not want to be considered persian. shah changed name of persia to iran and many preferred persia. its just the old name and therefore the ethnic backround of most of the inhabitants. [ Reply | More
