my first suggestion would be to park at home and then walk to pick up your dd. but it might be too far for that. otherwise, i'd set up a good routine for when yo uget home. maybe sit down with a snack and then do a puzzle or coloring. or let her go and play on her own. (i'm actually a beleiver in not playing with your dcs.) it'll take some time for you to adjust to having the downtime. just take it slowly and enjoy. [ Reply | More ]

You don't have to DO anything in particular, nor is it required that you enjoy taking care of a 2yo. I am sure some people do enjoy that, but I doubt they are a majority. Take the kid home. Ask her about her day. Give her food. Fold the laundry. Giver her a bath. Put her to bed. You will find that once in a great while, she will do something amusing or say something interesting, but don't count on it as a regular thing. [ Reply | More ]

I have the same schedule. I pick my son up at school after his nap, around 3pm. We get home around 3:30 (we take the public bus home). First, I give him a snack and sit at the table with him while he eats. We talk or I read him a book. then I ask him what he wants to play with and we do whatever he wants until 5pm. That could be coloring, playing simple board games, building with blocks etc. Then, at 5pm, we make dinner together. In the nice weather, instead of taking the bus home, we walk home and go to the playground on the way. [ Reply | More ]

we have a HHI of over 750K and I shop at CP. There is no reason to spend $35 on a t-shirt for a baby or toddler, they either destroy it or outgrow instantly. Anyone who does is just trying to impress everyone else. The most that I will spend on any "play" item of clothes for DS is $20, but only if it is super cute. It's just a waste. Just becuase you are rich, doesn't mean you have to waste your money on nonsense. [ Reply | More ]

thanks. But I am no saint, I did just buy myself a $400 pair of shoes that I didn't need. But at least I will wear them well and not outgrow them. I spend money on my kids trust me, but buying babies and toddlers "designer" clothes, espeically play type clothes (maybe a fancy outfit for a special occassion I will spend money on) to me is like burning my money. Especially since DS could care less what he wearing. Who he is going to impress, the other toddlers? hte Nanny's?? It's just dumb IMO. [ Reply | More ]

no, we don't feel like we have plenty of money. we put money away for college for our dcs and for retirement, we spend a lot on insurance & taxes, and we bought a new house last year, and even though we sold our apt for about what we sold our house for, we've had to spend money on things like window treatments, landscaping etc. as well as had unexpected expenses, so we're not even going away for vaca this summer, we're staying home and hanging out at the town pool (wanted to join a club, but that has to wait till next year). our dcs are in public school (burbs) and we have only one car (volvo wagon). [ - ] Looking for restaurant recommendations in NYC. 2 couples - in our 40s (so nothing too loud and young) - like to drink and have good food. Prefer UWS or UES, but flexible. Any ideas? Budget is average to above average. 2 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]
