[ - ] Im a PT SAHM, and have gotten the opport. to take on a full time federal job. My ds is just shy of 2 yo. Now this puts me in a pickle with child care. Do I take it even though I'll be giving up my time with him? Confused What would you do. The pay is goos and steady and I'll have a pension. 9 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

depends on so many things... do you want to go back? is this a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity or could you get something like this in a year, when you might be more ready to return to the workforce? do you think your ds will do well in daycare (I think he'll be fine :) but are you comfortable with putting him in full-time care?) What are your daycare options? We have our dc in a great daycare, and that makes it much easier to work. [ Reply | More ]

Unless your husband is incredibly mature, at least one of these will occur if you were stay at home...I'm a SAHM for the summer and already mine is getting on me about how I have very little that I need to do, so it had better be done all the time..ie. perfect home, pay bills, etc. which I can't say I totally disagree with...he is the one working the 100+ hours/week while I'm taking ds to the zoo :) [ Reply | More ]

Could you consult? Start your own consulting business from home. That way you could call the shots (time, pay) and still be "working" and socialize. Maybe get a nanny one-two days per week or work something out with your dh?!?! I did this and LOVE it. You can always tell a client that you "have another commitment". PRECIOUS INFANTS nurses are good but shifty at times deptending on who you get. If you keep them for a short time they are good and work out well. If you extend their stay in your home or with your baby then LOOK OUT. No one checks up on them and we've fpund strings of untruths. A number of us who've used them do this ... we check in w the agency owner so she knows what's going on and can keep them in line. This is the way to go other wise their lies snowball and its a mess. Precious the owner is top notch and professional and knows her business but her nurses are back dooring her all over the place. [ Reply | More ]
