It's a phase. Does she enjoy helping to pick out clothes? Give her a choice of two shirts, two dresses, whatever and get her involved in the process. As for diapers, I assume you are using PullUps? Try getting something with a design she likes. Again, maybe let her choose the package in the store and when you go to put them on her be cheerful and excited that she gets to put on the princess PullUp (or whatever her fav thing is). You really just have to navigate through and try to keep the yelling to a minimum. If you feel you are losing your cool, take a 5 min break and come back and try again. Also, make sure you aren't always in *rush* mode when you are getting her dressed. I think kids pick up on that kind of frantic parental mode and react with more resistance to cooperate. We have two young boys and started the 3 year old when he was 2. Get a little potty for the living room and little potty to put on your potty in your bathroom. Have him pee all the time standing and sitting. Take off his diaper put underwear on him and accidents will happen. He will be so happy. Give him treats if that helps. [ Reply | More ]

Waited until son was 3. Got lucky, trained pee and poop, night and day in about 2 weeks. The best thing we did, was let dh get ds first thing in the morning and they both trotted off to bathroom and peed together standing up. DS thought this was the end all and be all of existance! [ Reply | More ]

DS trained by 2.9. He started out sitting. We had the potty for a while for him to get used to it. Then one week, after he'd used the potty a number of times for both, we stopped putting him in diapers in the house. Rewarded with m&m's a few times (didn't even have to do this the whole week). mine is 2.2 now, and he will pee in the little potty or toilet with cover if we tell him. we try about 1-2x a day. until he regularly says, "i need to pee now," or "i'm peeing now" we won't push too much. [ Reply | More ]

Potty trained at 2. Went commando inside for a few days, with lots of reminders to use the potty, lots of praise and lots of jelly beans. Had a few accidents on day two, but went surprisingly well. Making the leap of faith in going out with just underwear was harder for me. Got a potette and always bring a change of clothes. It was all a lot easier than I feared. [ Reply | More ]

I've been going to Miano Viel Salon on 52nd between 5th and Madison for a couple of years. Mami (no kidding, that's her name) is great. Oh but I get the Japanese relaxer not the thermal straightening - it's less severe and doesn't use the flat iron to break down the hair proteins. Basically, my hair still has a wave or body to it but it's WAY easier to blow straight. My shoulder-length hair takes about 15 minutes to blow out whereas without this, it would take about 45 at this length. [ Reply | More ]

We have bought her 2 of them the last 2 summers but she gives them away claiming they cost too much to keep (electric bill). DH reminded her that last summer when she gave it away that not to come to him again because he will not waste his money again. To ask his moocher bother for an a/c (he was the one who took it). When we got back home she left him a message saying I think you should know I was taken to the ER on 6/9 and have the flu. I'm home very sick, completely congested, mucous everywhere. [ - ] I have a ds born in October 2003. His preschol is predominently girls, which has been a point against it for next year and one of the reasons causing us to consider public K. When we went to the 183 orientation I was suprised to see many more girls as well. HAve other people seen this in their preschools or other situations-i.e. generally more girls than boys? 5 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

Current 183 parent: I wouldn't worry too much. A lot of families don't even go to orientation. I even met one parent who came w/out his twins. Now that G&T results are out, there will probably be some girls who won't be enrolling. I met a few at orientation who were waiting to hear, including some siblings. FWIW, this year's K has many more boys than girls, also the case at PS6. Welcome to the school. It's a great place, and I hope you and your family agree. [ Reply | More ]
