my 8 week old mostly sleeps in her swing, too, b/c of reflux issues. I put her in her crib for naps during the day so she's used to it but it rarely works at night. dh and I figure that either she will grow out of it or we will find a way to deal with it later. [ Reply | More ]

ice in your bra (cabbage smells awful when it wilts) - I used frozen peas in little baggies and then bought these boob shaped ice packs at whole foods. lots of tylenol. don't bind your boobs-it will hurt more, but try not to let the shower spray hit your nipples. pump for up to 5 minutes at a time when you're so engorged you can't $%^%$^$%& bear it anymore. it took me about a week for the engorgement to go away and about another week or so before I wasn't leaking anywhere. good luck! In our school, we spend money (takes a vote), sponsored a school in Afghanatan (which closed), so we searched and presented proposals for another one in Mexico (and voted to appropriate funds). We discuss fund raising, lunch recess, the yearly budget, teachers come and speak about specific problems or needs/wants. The principal gives a quickie speech, sometimes a recap and sometimes a heads up, addressing test and scores at the appropriate meeting, we drink wine, our children watch a movie and eat pizza, we make friends and find all kinds of ways to support our children and their schoolmates. And then there's the kinky sex, but I can't go into that here :) [ Reply | More ]

calm down. Read my response. Often the harm is from some company dumping stuff in a river or people who worked in the factory that made the chemicals and not from a one time, short term expossure. I understand that you are freaked out. I probably would be too, but it's really not going to hurt your child. Just get rid of the bugs, clean well and go on with life. [ Reply | More ]

You know you need to wash eversingle thing in your apt, and vaccumf fastidiously, daily, behind picture frames, etc, etc, etc, and wrapy your mattresses and basically live in plastic bags for a year? This is much more frightening than the chemical thing. And frankly, I wouldn't go anywhere....you may spread them with you! [ Reply | More ]

It can be very difficult to get rid of bed bugs, even with spraying. The eggs can be buried and then hatch later. If often takes several rounds of spraying to get rid of them all. If they are in neighbors and neighbors are not acting then you can get them. A lot of buildings are infected and landlords don't tell. They don't take care of them and they move from apartment to apartment. We had a scare last year and I did a lot of research and talked to friends who had them. It's a big problem. YOu have to throw out all your stuff too esp cloth and wood. [ Reply | More ]
