true, but what are her options? Which would you rather have, blood sucking parasites or a few chemicals that have been pretty well tested and deemed to be safe. Often too, when they are found to be harmful, it is to people with prolonged exposure and not a one time, well controlled event. [ Reply | More ]

it's true. My DH is a chemist and he talks about stuff like this all the time. People getting all worked up about this stuff for no reason really bugs him but he is also very careful when he feels it's needed. It's fine. ;-) [ Reply | More ]

calm down. Read my response. Often the harm is from some company dumping stuff in a river or people who worked in the factory that made the chemicals and not from a one time, short term expossure. I understand that you are freaked out. I probably would be too, but it's really not going to hurt your child. Just get rid of the bugs, clean well and go on with life. [ Reply | More ]

try the CDC website or do a search for some .gov site. I'm sure they have all been tested well. It's not pleasant to think about and ITA with the other poster who says to wash pots and pans and clean the floors etc, but yeah - people use this stuff all the time. [ Reply | More ]

unfortunately, i am too familiar with this problem. the chemicals don't necessarily work b/c lots of bugs are resistent. Hire a bedbug sniffing dog to identify the source of the bugs, then spray, vacuum, whatever you need to do at that source. [ Reply | More ]

this happend to me 5 yrs ago...the whold building infected, turns out a woman paid a homeless man to carry her laundry up the 6 flights to her apt. and he had bedbugs! We moved a few months later because even after numerous spraying they never went away because they hide in floor boards and walls [ Reply | More ]

You know you need to wash eversingle thing in your apt, and vaccumf fastidiously, daily, behind picture frames, etc, etc, etc, and wrapy your mattresses and basically live in plastic bags for a year? This is much more frightening than the chemical thing. And frankly, I wouldn't go anywhere....you may spread them with you! [ Reply | More ]

It can be very difficult to get rid of bed bugs, even with spraying. The eggs can be buried and then hatch later. If often takes several rounds of spraying to get rid of them all. If they are in neighbors and neighbors are not acting then you can get them. A lot of buildings are infected and landlords don't tell. They don't take care of them and they move from apartment to apartment. We had a scare last year and I did a lot of research and talked to friends who had them. It's a big problem. YOu have to throw out all your stuff too esp cloth and wood. [ Reply | More ]
