[ - ] Just had a horrible fight with my sibling, wwyd? They have planned a destination wedding in a remote location. They are "surprised" that many people are complaining that they don't know what to do with their children (kids aren't invited) during the ceremony/reception (this couple is late 30's early 40s). I (insensitively?) said they would feel stupid in a few years when they have kids and they realize what a difficult position they put their friends/family in. Tactless I know - but this is my sibling. Rec'd vituperative e-mail lambasting my insensitivity. Advice? Thanks. 16 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

poster above here, I bought it for older dc when he was 4 and he hated it. Threw it in closet and when younger dc was 4 1/2 dug it out. He loved it and then older dc (now 7) wanted to play it too - I had to go buy another one because they were fighting over it (and since a new one only costs $50 and I already had tons of cartridges, I figured why not. OP: how old is dc? My older dc preferred the V-Smile system and there is one where you can use a leapster-type component for travel. i think it's interesting that you are using the word "enrage" to describe a 16 m.o. feelings or even assuming that your dd showing her belly button was definitely the cause of the biting rather than just a coincidence. a 16 m.o. doesn't associate the horror with biting that all parents seem to. it's really no more aggressive than hitting or kicking but for some reason parents freak out about it as if it is the worst thing a kid can do. and no - my kids have never bitten anyone (other than each other.) If your kid is serious about performing there's only really one theatre camp you should be looking at and that's Stagedoor Manor in Loch Sheldrake, NY. half the people on broadway now went there as kids. In my day is started at age 10, although I don't know how young they start now. They have a website if you google it. Also, there's a facebook group for alumni (and some people on it went to Stagedoor as long ago as the 80's!) [ Reply | More ]

There are other great theater camps too. I went to 3 different ones - Stagedoor, Interlochen (also for music) and Buck's Rock, which is an all-arts camp but has fabulous theater. Exactly. We hold Arabs to the same standards of morality as Westerners but that doesn't hold true. These are societies that condone gang-rape and honor killings of women too. [ Reply | More ]
