St Ann's sends twice as many kids to the Ivy League as does Packer -- SA is overall stronger academically than Packer which is 2nd or 3rd tier school. But Packer has more organized sports. So take your pick! [ Reply | More ]

They are two extremely different schools. Packer is more family-involvement, organized, St Ann's is less parent involvement, more loosy goosy. Packer wants to be Horace Mann. St Ann's wants to be Dalton. Take your pick. [ Reply | More ]

I have not been to Episcopal yet but went to St. Thomas More and was not impressed at all. In a basement with no real classrooms (except for the 2 oldest groups) and no windows. It did not appear that the kids were doing anything so great there (I am a former preschool teacher so I have an idea of what to look for) and other than the kids being cute in their uniforms and very nice music and movement program, nothing was appealing. We chose not to put in an application after we visited. [ Reply | More ]

We got into Episcopal but sent DC to STM. We liked that it was smaller, more 'neighborhood-ish'--just a differnet vibe. The negatives...it's in a church basement so the facilities will not wow you at all (m) and it can't compare to Episcopal, Brick, etc. in that regard. But my DC LOVED school and I really liked the families there. Really nice kids, too. I think what the school lacks in facilities it makes up with specials and teachers. They have a science teacher, music teacher, librarian, art teacher and movement teacher as well as top-notch "regular" teachers. The one kind of child that I don't think would do great there is a really active, physical one because it is a small space. I don't want to sound like a crazy 'I love my kids preschool' mom but I can't say enough great things about it. If you have any more specific q's feel free to ask. [ Reply | More ]

Thanks for detailed reply. You don't sound crazy to me; better to love DC's school than loathe it. I know I'm early (DC's 14 mos) to think about this but want to start getting my ducks in a row w/apps. and visits. I have gotten that neighborhood impr on as well as I live closeby. The kids seem bright, happy and relatively calm, although of course that's only the impression I get from seeing them walk down/cross the street. [ Reply | More ]

We toured both last year. While we liked them both I felt STMPG (did not get in) was 'better' in terms of their layout. Child not on elevator throughout the day. Seemed designed with children in mind. Cheerful, and we saw a stronger curriculum than E. Both are very nice and you'd be lucky to get into either one. A nice thing about STMPG is that the afternoon program is only one year, then all kids attend in the a.m. [ Reply | More ]

STMPG - very small school, strong community -- at the end of 2-3 years you know most of the families at the school; Episcopal is a very, very large school. My friend whose DS went there said that unless you are in the same program, you just don't have t opportunity to meet the other families. I think at the end of the day, the children who graduate and go on to TT K are remarkably similar -- confident, verbal, well-behaved, smart, etc. You should visit each school and see where you feel more comfortable. Will also note -- that *generally* speaking, STMPG parents may be slightly more low -key than their Episcopal counterparts - but there are wonderful, caring families at both school. [ Reply | More ]

oh, i want to read this. egg freezing is diff from egg donor. i think there are lots of egg donor babies (joan lunden and other celebs over certain age who don't say it, maybe geena davis, holly hunter, etc. just a guess) I think barbara corcoran is open re: egg donor child. But in any event, egg freezing is a totally different thing: like sperm freezing. if egg freezing can be successfuly done, then women can delay the biolgoical clock. because it isn't successful yet like sperm freezing is, women over a certain age resort to fresh egg donors. Arlene Falk, Speech therapist: 1 thumb down She was recommended by the admissions director of one of the preschools we were applying to for our ds (it wasn't clear that he had any special needs at that point -- as it is, he has ADHD and very high IQ). We were so eager to be do everything we could for him we paid out of pocket (she didn't insurance and wasn't an authorized provider). SO--- during the first part of the evaluation when she was talking to me and hubby, all was going well, I though she was asking all the right questions and and that we were on the right track -- when she said the ST should be three times a week but she'd also accept twice, pay up front per week...so when we told her, no, this is an EVALUATION we are paying for (5 figures folks)- if DS needs ST we will arrange it through his nursery school and board of ed. Her face goddam transformed in a flash. The contempt with which she said, oh, you would leave your son's progress in the hands of city ST who are only working for the city because they're not qualified enough for private practice...Henceforth (even though she had been duly paid for the eval up front) she was visibly disinterested, not "attending" to what she was doing, and finished with a B-S eval that ds showed all indications of PDD, and significant cognitive deficits ... total crap. Oh, she included the comment in the eval that there were serious questions about his oppositional behavior, because he showed an inappropriate lack of apprehension about the evaluation! She knew why we needed the eval but once she realized we weren't going to be ongoing clients, she lost all interest in the matter, and god knows why she wrote those inaccurate, misleading and damaging comments (which are so off base -- he's got problems, just not those!). Arlene Falk gets ONE THUMB DOWN instead of two because I do believe that if you were able to pay on her out of pocket, she could be and probably is excellent. [ Reply | More ]

O.P. here - I understand the discomfort, esp. if you're CURRENTLY using s.o. It can seem backstabbing...if you raise a concern on a board that you don't want to say to someone's face (they are working with our precious ones, after all!). When I thought about it, thinking of past providers, I couldn't see the reason for awkwardness, but thinking of current ones (only through the school) -- yeah, I see what you mean. I really meant it more as a resource -- all of you know that the therapists, specialists, activities for kids with SN cost so much more than the regular, and yet often one flies blind, as the saying goes. I've been shocked by the disparity between a recommendation and our experience, sometimes...I realize it's happened because professionals can know each other in that capacity, and make a judgment IN THAT CAPACITY -- just not as the consumer/client. So I thought that just rating, on this board, the services/providers - as in, OK, FANTASTIC! or so-so - and why you felt that way, would be a way to spread the collective wisdom a bit further. For our part, we were so pleased by Dr. Saltzman at NYU who did a psycho-educational - and I know another parent who was strongly rec. to one dr. for the psycho-ed, by her pediatrician (in Brooklyn) and she was very unhappy with him. Then she realized her ped and the other doctor had worked on an article together - and how the dr. seemed to a colleague wasn't how he was with an actual client. I was going to ask her to post BTW but she's in Israel for the summer. That's really what I meant. [ Reply | More ]

I also thought that it would help to broaden the pool of providers to consider I'm sure that you too hear the same few names in specific areas -- but there is a broader base out there. What I was hoping was to shorten the first step in the process (parents culls names from ped, teachers, etc.) then seeks out feedback after checking for insurance info. [ Reply | More ]

I think this poster has hit a nerve. I had a very strange phone interview with another speech therapist. She was slightly odd during the phone interview (nothing I could put my finger on)...but enough for me to decide that our personalities were not a m atch. The she started quizzing me about my insurance. (I planned to pay privately, but did not tell her as I knew I would not work with her for dc) We closed the call, with the ball in my court to phone her back. It was Easter week and I did not phone her (was away). She left me a message stating that the available time slots were now filled and byt the way, my insirance would not accept her services as "payable"...yada yada "I am sure you have a delightful child and wish you well". I am convinced she decided not to work with us because she did not think our insurance would pay....I also think she was a paranoid person who had to let me down....instead of the other way around. Long and boring, I know! [ Reply | More ]

You think she was paranoid because she verified your insurance for you and followed up with you when you did not communicate that you didn't intend to follow up with her? She acted professionally by attempting to clean up the loose ends on the case. Therapists are not clairvoyant. [ Reply | More ]

Our family had great experience with Dr. Jamie Kay. She consults with parents and really helped us find the best people to work with our son, who struggled a lot from middle school onward and has now graduated college, doing really great. I recommend highly. Two thumbs up, if that's possible. Her number is 212-479-7822. She used to be the Director at The Center for Attention and Learning at Lenox Hill Hospital. Now works privately. Very reliable. [ Reply | More ]

It came out when the whole story about her cheating on her new husband came out. Her real name was Nina Sklar. Also, she was a fanatical follower of the Rules book about how to manipulate men into finding one desirable. She was supposedly a real game-player. Heard her first husband got remarried. I hope he's doing well, because that public humiliation must have been awful. [ Reply | More ]

While engaged to a wealthy man, she meets a wealthier, more famous one and starts affair. Gets married, and, upon returning from wedding, starts dating the new guy. Husband finds out and is broken-hearted that his marriage breaks up after about a month. According to her friends, she pulls all sorts of stuff to get commitment from new guy, and, when she doesn't get it, she breaks up with him and calls the first husband, who isn't interested. Winds up snagging the new guy. Pretty disgusting stuff. [ Reply | More ]

Many of the k-12s come close to doubling their class size with the middle and high school admissions. Indeed, the academic reputations of the TT schools is really built on their high schools, and an important component of this is all of the very smart and highly motivated unconnected kids who they admit for the 6th and 9th grades. Because admissions at these levels don't include a lot of siblings and legacies, and also because at that age there are a lot more data points relating to kids' academic abilities, admissions as these points seem much less random and much more merit based than K admissions. As one of the people who swelled the ranks of a TT 9th grade, I totally concur with this. All the people who came in with me were regular smart kids and broadened the class in many excellent ways. And MOST of them went to better colleges than those who had been there since K, by the way, although I won't pretend that that's in any way scientific. But it did make an impression on me. We were more motivated, by a long shot. [ Reply | More ]

I found Brinton disingenuous and almost offensive. Bourne Walsh is much more substantive. For example.... Brinton told me that the whole feeder nursery school thing was total BS and that a no name nursery school was the same deal. Then a few months later I read an article about Episcopal firing their director and there's a quote from her saying that she (brinton) is furious because one of the reasons she "chose" episcopal for her twins was because the director was connected and did well at exmissions! Her attitude during my workshop was one of supreme noblesse oblige which I also found to be a total turnoff. [ Reply | More ]

Similar. It seems like they are very disorganized, kind of "laissez-faire". I've only been his patient for a couple of months. I posted a lot about my IUI experiences last week. It seemed like they were following a very unorthodox protocol, but I can't tell if that was because I need to be more proactive about calling them when ovulation time is nearing, etc. On the positive side, he is so positive and nice, and he came to me very highly recommended by my OB, who has given me nothing but excellent referrals to other specialists, so I trust him. Dh is not impressed (but that could be bc they diagnosed him with male fertility issues and he is still smarting from that).I'd be curious to hear what your feelings are, however. What are your reservations? [ Reply | More ]

Re: Similar. It seems like they are very disorganized, kind of Thanks for responding. I guess my frustration is that I feel like I am "bothering" his staff when I call with questions. I feel like reminding them that they do NOT take insurance and are costing us a fortune...so I should feel comfortable asking questions!!! This may be my own insecurity but last week when I spoke to one of the nurses she was yawning loudly on the phone when I was nearly in tears asking about an upcoming procedure...I was really upset. He also seams to flip-flop on me (one minute suggesting one thing and the next another). I think I would be frustrated with any doctor really - being that we have been trying for 14 months with 2 miscarriages and no baby to hold! My Ob/Gyn was really bad and handled my miscarriages unprofessionally (I think...) and so I am looking for another one. Do you have any recommendations? Obviously don't need one now (not pregnant) but looking forward.... [ Reply | More ]

If you are okay with a doc that doesn't take insurance, then go with Dr. Robert Sassoon. He is really good and takes really good care of his patients. He is extremely conservative, in the sense that he will take everything you tell him very seriously. While I was pregnant, he sent me to get a fetal non-stress test every time I called with the slightest concern. Now, I was in my late 30s, with GD, etc. but I was grateful for his style. He is they kind of doc who will insist that you travel to philly for a CVS bc he doesn't think that any of the NYC docs have a low-enough miscarriage rate, etc. Give him a try. [ Reply | More ]

^^ He is not a fertility specialist, tho. This was in response to your req for an OB. I find that the nurses at Dr. David's are usually nice to me, though. I just find that there is an air of disorganization about the place. On the other hand, they've b with him for years and he has a large, successful practice with many patients who have had all 3 kids with him, etc. I am inclined to stick with him a bit longer, but may confront him about the unorthodox IUI protocol we undertook this month. It's hard. I truly believe it is one of the most painful experiences (other than losing a child) that a couple can go through. People who haven't been thru it don't realize it, either. In our case, I am frustrated bc we have only just found out it was dh and not me who had the problem. Dh had refused to get tested so we lost many months. I am trying not to be resentful, but I don't understand why men have such a hard time when --either way-- we're the ones who have to go through all the hassle. Sorry, venting. What is your story? Have you been trying a long time? [ Reply | More ]

Please vent.... I know I can't help but do it - we don't want to talk about it with our friends (since they don't understand - those who decided to have children ALL had positive experiences THE FIRST MONTH THEY TRIED!!!) they have no idea. I think I could teach a a medical class at Harvard now after all the research and reading we have done. I understand what you mean about your husband. I have not said anything to my husband but I wanted to try a year earlier then he did and I waited until he said ok (we just bought a place in NYC and he still wanted to be able to eat/drink go out...). I had 2 m/c and started to see a specialist in August. They discovered a polyp in my uterus after many many tests/blood tests. I am having surgery on 12/3 to remove the polyp (it takes up 25% of my uterus) After that we think we can start trying again. Its a waiting game and I am sick of it. I am scared that the "fun" of having our first child and enjoying the experience won't exist. We won't be able to relax a bit based on what we have been through. It makes me really sad... I am sorry that you are here and having some of the same experiences. On one hand it makes me feel better (talking to others) on the other I feel bad that other women have to go through this too...How is that venting!!! [ Reply | More ]

Here I am... orry I took so long to get back to you, I had meetings all afternoon. So you are the one with the polyps. So sorry to hear about that. It does sound like that may be your problem --it must be an explanation for the miscarriages. I hope so! I can assure you that the "fun" will not go out of having your first child --no matter how hard it ends up being. I took a long time to have my first, with many frustrations, but when I finally did, it made the experience all the more precious. It's only now that I am trying for #2 that it has all come back to me --and it's been even harder this time, bc now we have male factor issues-- I once again remember all of the pain. I know what you mean about your friends. I even have a friend who got pregnant twice --and both times, her unwilling husband was using a condom. And here I was, trying for months and months... How old are you? My biggest concern is my age. I am in my early 40s and time is running out. It sucks, but I have a feeling that once you have your surgery, it will happen for you. Good luck!! Thank you for your support. Hearing it from someone TTC means more to mean than my friend who is due any day with a baby conceived only because we were pregnant (before miscarriage) and she did not want to feel left out. I have no ill feelings for.... others just really sad for me. I am 28 years old. I know...we are still young but still it doesnt feel that way after trying for so long. I am hoping that after I have the polyp removed we can start trying again and it will work. I am anxious though. You mentioned that you had a hard time with your first child?? What was it that finally worked? I will be thinking of you and keeping my fingers crossed. I know its difficult and frustrating. [ Reply | More ]

What finally worked I cannot say. I thought it wascuring the Urea Plasma infection, but it hasn't come back and I'm still not pg. I thought it was Robitussin, but I've been using that this time, too. I really have no idea. Maybe it just took time... Bu you are so much younger than me so don't give up. Like I said, I have a really good feeling about your situation --once you get the polyps taken care of. I'm going to christen you "polyp-mom" so when you do get pg, I'll know it's you. P.S. I had a similar "friend" experience to you --two of my friends became pregnant during the time I was TTC. One of them got the courage to try bc I was, and the other got pg with her second. Both got pg after trying only 1 month!!! And they both would talk about it in front of me constantly --bragging about their symptoms, etc. But you know what? They are both so jealous of me with my dd. They tell me all the time how amazed they are at how advanced she is (she hit all her milestones before theirs did and theirs are 5 months older!). One of them told me that she would have stopped at one had she had my dd. (Can you imagine?!). So it all works out. Hang in there... [ Reply | More ]

i have been a patient for a number of years. i had my first baby at 44 years old and am currently working Dr David for #2. I coulnt be more satisfied with my experiences. it has been a process (having two mis carriages along the way) but i am thrilled that i did not go the IVF route which any other doctor would say i am crazy not to at my age. Dr David and his staff are incredibly supportive and if I had not given it a try with him i might have ended up doing IVF. Dr David has all kinds of quirky things that he has you do - but there is a reason. You also need to be very on top of your own cycle and pay attention to your body. I would also reccommend using Jill Blakeway and her associates (Yin Ova Center) which i did in conjunction - she is an accupuncturist specializing in fertility. GOOD LUCK! [ Reply | More ]

I've been a patient since September or so. (m) I've appreciated his warmth and supportiveness; and also his conservative approach -- by that I mean that he seems to go for the least invasive options first -- the simplest possible things -- including taking a very thorough history -- which is such a rarity in any medical field these days! But I agree that his nurse Roseanne is a bitch who seems not to care. Dorothy on the other hand seems very nice. Interesting that someone else's DH didn't like him -- mine didn't either. I think it's because Sami was so sure I'd get pregnant -- as if it were up to him, and not my DH. Anyway, we haven't yet been successful. So I can't say much more than that...Good luck! I started seeing Dr. David in May, 2009. I feel often like I need to follow up with them becuase if I don't, they may never call. Then I contact them and I feel like I'm bothering them. A couple of months ago after a blood test, I got a call from the office saying I ovulated and should come in the next day for a "Post coital ultrasound". As they started the ultrasound, the doctor explained that he wanted to see if the sperm had motility, but I reminded them that my husband had yet to complete his vasectomy reversal. They apologized. Last wednesday after getting an HCG shot from Dr. David, I got a call 6 days after the shot telling me that I am pregnant. Today they called to say there "Is no pregnancy". When I probed for more answers, I got none. They made a comment also about my blood showing a very high level of progesterone. DUH! He's been giving me progesterone for a week, of course my level is high. I was so stunned by the "there's no pregnancy" comment to even deal with the fact that they didnt know they had prescribed me progesterone. I'm disappointed. I admit that I may also be upset that I'm not pregnant. But at the same time, these are three incidents that show a level of disorganization and lack understanding. [ Reply | More ]

REPORT any fertility specialist and I know of 2 wel known and very likable fertility centers in NY that are BRAKING FED LAWS. REPORT any fertility specialist to your medical INSURANCE FRAUD DEPT if It is believed that if he is charging whatever he wants, $700-$900 a patient TO START. Then there are these fees like monitoring fees which are also AGAINST THE FED law. Monitoring fees of $150 that randomly flies out of their a$$ at any time !! NO NOT OK thats bad and dragging patients on and offer them no results on what to do next for months and months. I've seen it happen to a patient. Many of these fertility centers are certified doctors with various insurances yet are still charging patients more than they contracted with that insurance that they would if their patient has that particular insurance. Do NOT sign a waiver stating you will allow them to charge you whatever they want. Also some reg insurance reps may not know about this so it is best to discuss it with a supervisor or with the FRAUD DEPT. [ Reply | More ]

….stumbled across this post and thought I'd add my experience. I'm a patient of Dr David - and my experience has been amazing. I had cancer / radio / chemo 10 years ago (at the time of diagnosis I was pregnant and living in Italy). I came back home and doctors told me to terminate, essentially to save my life. While I survived the cancer (I was 33), I've since had 10 years of what I now understand were early pregnancy losses. I suspect around 8-10 of them. For the last 3 years, we've been trying diligently to conceive, and saw an IVF doctor who said we'd only have ONE shot at a single cycle. Even then, he only gave me a 5% chance. Some time after that, a girlfriend in NYC (44yrs old), called me and said "I'm pregnant". She'd read Dr David's book, had started doing the programme and within 3 weeks was pregnant. So, naturally I started the programme. I took it really seriously. Nothing was happening after 4 months so we got a long distance consult with Dr David. He said "you've got nothing to worry about" and went on to tell me he'd worked with a woman who was older than me (I'm 43), and had an FSH level of 80 (mine was 17). And she still got pregnant. So I listened. I was pretty rigorous with doing precisely what he recommended. Even things like slowing down my swimming (too many endorphins), and putting extra weight on. We went through all the diagnostic testing - and it all seemed pretty normal until we got to the immunological part. Turns out my immune system is overactive and it was viewing the fetus as an invader. Every time I'd conceive, it would kill the fetus before it got a chance to implant. Which explained why I'd had that sense of getting pregnant. He recommended I have 3-weekly IV infusions of intralipid (essentially a soy-based fat). We got pregnant the first cycle and I'm now at 15 weeks. Bit of a miracle really given my history. Dr David is NOT a conventional fertility doctor. That's what makes him such a STAR. He doesn't throw patients into the IVF sausage-factory. In fact, I now understand that if we'd taken the IVF route… it would have failed due to the unaddressed immune issue. What he does…. is FIND THE CAUSE OF YOUR BODIES BLOCKAGE, and offer a solution. If you want to understand his approach, the book Making Babies is a must-read. I've spoken to women who have had 10 failed IVF cycles and got pregnant with him. But you have to be rigorous. Don't question what he says. Just do it. And do some kind of fertility acupuncture as an adjunct (Jill, coauthor of the book recommended an acupuncturist in LA that has been phenomenal - Dr Ray Rubio. So in the final analysis we'll never know if it was the acupuncture, or the intralipids, or all the treatments combined. But something worked. Sure, his office has at times been disorganised. But that's just at the organisational level. He's trying to do something unconventional with his business practice as well, taking patients globally. The key is to stay proactive, make strong requests and follow the instructions. [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] Recommendation for a dev ped for 2nd opinion (m) We have a neurologist that we're happy with who has seen our 2.2 year old dd three times over the last year and ruled her out for PDD. He thinks she may end up with an ADD diagnoisis down the line (but is of course much too young to medicate now). She exhibits a lot of behaviors that I would associate with sensory integration difficulties, but being a neuro and looking for hard neurological signs, our doctor doesn't really have any truck with the more fuzzy disorders -- my analogy is if you told your GI doctor that you had a sprained ankle. It's part of your overall health picture, but it kind of has nothing to do with him. So, we would like to take dd to a developmental pediatrician who would be able to look at her behaviors (toe walking, difficulty focusing, not wanting to sit still or be held in a lap, a lot of unfocused wandering and running around, climbing up on and crashing into furniture) and give us a more holistic reading than one based totally on hard neurological signs. For that reason, I don't necessarily need a dev ped who's also a neurologist. Thanks to anyone who can suggest names! 12 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

You're absolutely right about neurologists missing the mark. My ds (PDD-NOS) was seen by 3 "top" neuros and not one of them dx him as PDD (he clearly is). -m It's great that you know enough to not rely on their assessment. In my opinion, the best dev. ped. in NY is Dr. Marilyn Agin (author of "The Late Talker"). We also went to Dr. Ceci McCarton. Both have huge waiting lists (all the dev. ped's do), but you may get lucky at the McCarton clinic and get another doctor (not nec. Dr. McCarton). I've heard of people using Dr. Maureen Packard, however, no personal experience. I prefer Dr. Agin b/c she really does take a lot of time to carefully examine your child in depth and detail. She's also very warm and loving to the kids, which makes the assessment very easy on them (my ds still, after 3 years - has not caught on that "Marilyn" is his doctor). McCarton is first class too, but I just prefer Dr. Agin's demeanor and genuine interest in the kids. She also gives detailed reports with specific recommendations for treatment. AS Medical Director for EI in NYC, she's also got a lot of first hand knowledge about how to deal with the BOE and insurance companies. Dr. Agin's reports are wonderful too. I've heard complaints from BOE people about McCarton giving out "cookie cutter" reports that they don't even bother reading any more - that's how similar they all look. [ Reply | More ]

Thank you so much for your reply. (m) As a matter of fact, our neuro specifically warned us away from Dr. McCarton, saying "No matter what's going on with your child, she's going to give you an autism diagnosis." DD is very present and social and has been making some amazing strides lately in terms of both speech and behavior, so I feel very good overall about her progress; still, I would like to see what a new person makes of her. I will look into Dr. Agin and Dr. Packard (the latter has been recommended to me by someone I know, as well). Thank you again for your helpful and thoughtful post. [ Reply | More ]

As far as membership requirement, it's not that you have to belong to gain admission, it's that once you get admitted, you have to join. Very down to earth parent body, cost is in line with other schools. [ Reply | More ]

There is a group of preschools in vicinity of Brotherhood which cost about $2,000/year less than Brotherhood. [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] Question for extended BFers: I want to wean my DD, aged 20 mos, from the nighttime nurse. I don't nurse her to sleep. She nurses, then gets a brief snuggle, and then into her crib, usually with some protest. Lately, she's really objected to ending the nurse, and then she really protests when I put her in the crib. So I think it's time to end the nighttime nurse. Any suggestions for how to do it? She also has a morning nurse, and I'm going to keep it until we wean from the night. 3 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

You just kind of do it. Proceed w/ the rest of your nighttime routine, then say ?it?s time to go to sleep now? and put her in her crib. This is what I did ? if DD really protested, I?d pick her up again and nurse her, but this was only every (m) every other night at the start, and after a week or so, we were just done. It was easier than I thought it would be. [ Reply | More ]

I also found it really helped to have daddy or grandma take a couple of nights of bedtime routine, seemed to ease into it a little bit more. Dropping night was not nearly as hard as morning -- that was the last to go! [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] My cleaning lady comes once a week, I never gave explicit cleaning instructions - just wich prods I like for her to use. I now see that she doesn't move things completely to dust under them, and she isn't dusting the frames on pictures or paintings (m) other than that she is very good and takes pride in her work. I don't want to offend her, but I do want her to dust more thoroughly. Is there a tactful way to approach this? 7 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

Well, if you won't level with her, just say dc is/are sensitive or allergic to dust and that dusting must be thorough. Give her a list of what you expect dusted. [ Reply | More ]

Just say to her "I noticed lots of dust here and here (and show her as you're talking). Can you concentrate on these areas today?" [ Reply | More ]

Mine too, but whe I tell her this, she says that it's been 2 weeks (she comes every other week) and so there will be dust! Also, she gives me a strange look when I ask her to do soemthing out of her "routine" liek cleaning the fridge or the (m) outside of the windows! [ Reply | More ]

i think if you just show her/ask her nicely it shouldn't be a prob. just show her one of the dusty areas and say casually "oh, please be sure to...thanks so much!" [ Reply | More ]
