Question for extended BFers: I want to wean my DD, aged 20 mos, from the nighttime nurse. I don't nurse her to sleep. She nurses, then gets a brief snuggle, and then into her crib, usually with some protest. Lately, she's really objected to ending the nurse, and then she really protests when I put her in the crib. So I think it's time to end the nighttime nurse. Any suggestions for how to do it? She also has a morning nurse, and I'm going to keep it until we wean from the night. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

You just kind of do it. Proceed w/ the rest of your nighttime routine, then say ?it?s time to go to sleep now? and put her in her crib. This is what I did ? if DD really protested, I?d pick her up again and nurse her, but this was only every (m) every other night at the start, and after a week or so, we were just done. It was easier than I thought it would be. [ Reply | More ]

I also found it really helped to have daddy or grandma take a couple of nights of bedtime routine, seemed to ease into it a little bit more. Dropping night was not nearly as hard as morning -- that was the last to go! [ Reply | More ]
