So my sister is having a baby due soon. She's white and her DH is black. I hate to ask her this so I'll ask the anon board: the baby will be pale at birth until the pigment comes in? Is that right? I don't want to be too too suprised [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

When I had my dd, a young father was very surprised by his white baby... he threw a huge scene. Some nurse had to explain to him that the baby was indeed his and would get darker in the next few weeks! [ Reply | More

I think your question was innocuous, and I'm biracial. I think the baby will probably be pretty light, at least initially. Impossible to say what his/her hair will be like. I had very little hair when I was born, but it was not curly. [ Reply | More

In my 16 month old pictures, I was definitely several shades lighter than I am now. I think by the time I was 2 or so, I was the color I am today. My mom was very fair and my dad was medium-dark. I really am somewhere in the middle, with wavy hair. [ Reply | More

Biracial babies change a lot, just like Caucasian babies do. Skin color, eye color, hair color can be quite different from later on. FYI: the baby will be smushed like all newborns. Generally, darker later. [ Reply | More
