just read the ny magazine article on egg freezing. How prevalent is egg donation? Article made it sound like a huge # of over babies born to moms over 40 are from egg donors. Is that true? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

oh, i want to read this. egg freezing is diff from egg donor. i think there are lots of egg donor babies (joan lunden and other celebs over certain age who don't say it, maybe geena davis, holly hunter, etc. just a guess) I think barbara corcoran is open re: egg donor child. But in any event, egg freezing is a totally different thing: like sperm freezing. if egg freezing can be successfuly done, then women can delay the biolgoical clock. because it isn't successful yet like sperm freezing is, women over a certain age resort to fresh egg donors. a huge number to oover 40 are also due to ivf, own eggs. me, and my two friends, for example. we were all under 44. i think when you are 44 or older though chances are great that it is egg donor. [ Reply | More ]

You know is interesting. When I was in college, there were ads all the time in the college paper looking for egg donors (ivy school). Maybe they think they're getting smart eggs. [ Reply | More ]

that's exactly what. they probably pay more for 'ivy' eggs, just as sperm from donors who have doctorates/etc costs more. there's alot of screening that goes on and people don't want the egg or sperm of, say, a retarded person or shizoprhenic,e tc. [ Reply | More ]
