np: yes but they are family, and so they will never listen to you 100%. Either you can deal or not. Obviously they had issues with their grandsons having longer hair so they 'fixed' it. [ Reply | More ]

OP yes, they had an issue and chose not to say anything to us, but to handle it with their grandchildren directly. Maybe I should just "man-up" and call them myself... Not to fight, but to say that I understand they must not have liked their hair long, but in the future I would be really happy to have them discuss it with me or DH instead of the boys. I have a good relationship with them usually, but this is something I would never have thought to do ! [ Reply | More ]

np - i was all for telling op to just relax and let it go, until she said that the boys didn't want haircuts and that granpa made them. i think you walk a thin line when you ask family to watch your kids. my sil is not that great with kids and the rest of dh's family thinks the sun shines out of her ass, so no one can ever criticise her. i just don't leave my kids alone with her, which for me is easier because she lives out of state. i guess the moral of the story is, get a babysitter or be prepared to deal with control issues like this. How do the kids feel about it? Although hair does grow and you don't want the kids to think they look bad, in-laws must be told, by their son, that this should not happen again. [ Reply | More ]

There are Manhattan families (met some with kids in the sports camp I sent dc to), but they are the low-key kind (kids at private school and all that, but not snooty). [ - ] Very bothered by a dream that I have almost every night for months, years. I keep having dreams/nightmares that I am cheating on my husband (enjoy the affair) then regret it horribly and lose him. In the past, I have cheated on my ex-fiance and always felt bad abou it BUT at the same time I was not in control of my behavior ( I was in my mid 20s - now 38 yrs old). I was partying, curious etc. I also craved that attention from men etc.. It was like a high. NOW I am a mom (love my db) and wife. I love my dh so much and my db and I tink part of me is worried that if I am "out there" again I will cheat. I am overweight now and I feel that I won't lose the weight partly as a protective mechanism so that I won't get attention and then get lured. He wanted to send me a sum of money, much more than the security deposit and 1st months rent. It's a scam, but it would be great if you can scam them back. I.e., open a new account, let them wire the money for the rent, when it clears, close the account. Then you can wire the balance to the new account. You are doing everything you are supposed to do, but the scammers can't reverse the wire and get the money back after you send the balance to the new account. I don't really think you should do this, but do wish these scammers would get their comeuppance. [ Reply | More ]
