Imo most important things are (1) complete anonymity and (2) very very light moderation (no racist stuff) [ REPLY | MORE ] »^after it's all said and done, everyone might hate it and not want to use the new site, and that's understandable. But fingers crossed I can make it work. If too many people are saying they'd rather stick to ybm or similar, it might not be worth the time/effort/money for me. So we'll just have to see how things go. [ REPLY | MORE ] »^^speaking of money. At this stage I am thinking Patreon, I would set up tiers (eg $5, $10, $500, etc) so people can pay what they want. Again, this might be completely wasted money if the site fails (just as it would be with the money I'm throwing to get it set up) but I think this is the easiest and most transparent way. Of course getting money to pay for it is still a while away - for now I'm just going to pay for setting it up. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

When it's totally different things, the same name might be okay. Like Dove Soap and Dove Chocolate are two different companies, but they don't mind having the same name because of totally different markets. Apple Records (which the Beatles started) didn't mind Apple Computers, until Apple began getting into the music business with iTunes...then Apple Computers had to pay a huge settlement to Apple Records. If there is an UrbanBaby out there selling children's goods, that's not the same as a message board. But if you make a new message board and call it UrbanBaby, then CBS as the rightful owner of that trademark would have every right to sue your ass off. [ Reply | More
