We're there and have been for several years. The only grades that it was mostly eliminated for were 4 and 5. There is still one 4/5 class though. The only reason it was mostly ended for those grades was because of the burden of test prep on the teachers for both grades. I think the principal really felt that kids were getting screwed out of the more academic middle schools because a lack of test prep. There are so many benefits to the blended classes and the school is committed to it. Board of Ed would like to eliminate it because they like everything to be mediocre and the same. [ Reply | More

yes but she is a young baby at the moment so i doubt she will remember. honestly, i only get them when we are going on holidays when i will be wearing a bikini. so if she ever asked i would say b/c it is easier for when on a sun holiday. otherwise i keep it trimmed/short so not really an issue. if you are seriously concerned, tell her a great thing about being a woman is that you have choices. you can choose to go bare if you want, or not. up to you, free choice is a great thing etc. [ Reply | More

People get weird about this stuff. We live in D1 and a lot of people we know didn't apply because they say they don't believe in G&T. Which, you know, fine with me. But some of them get truly hostile toward people who did apply. The underlying assumption seems to be that if you applied you must think your dc is somehow better than theirs. Well, in our case the general eds are bad, but almost everyone wants to send their dc to one of the progressive publics: Earth School, Neighborhood, etc. And if you don't want the same thing it must be because you think dc is too good for them. But I agree about not playing politics. If your friend is acting cold, just remember this subject makes a lot of otherwise nice people behave badly. I have a friend who is not really talking to me b/c I chose private and she chose a gen ed public for her dd (that my dc cannot even attended b/c of our zone). Most people, I think, get past this.
