I am staying off FB because it is really triggering me into feeling even more lonely and left out. Can I get some props here? Anyone else sort of backing off social media now because of that feeling? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

I have never been on FB. I have seen it a few times and so much of it seems to be braggy, otherwise annoying, openly self-promoting or downright offensive. I occasionally text photos or little stories back and forth with close friends and family members and that has always been enough for me. [ Reply | More

I used to be triggered a lot by FB. I literally psycho-analyzed myself to figure out what triggers me. For instance, I have a FB friend who constantly posts political stuff in an inflammatory way. Although, I agree with him, his style of posting was really irritating for me. I realized he was shaming people in general in his posts and Iwas reacting to this shaming thing. After I realized this, the effect of his posts faded away. So, in a way I use FB as an observation place to psycho-analyzed myself and others. I deleted my FB account after Cambridge Analytica story broke out, two years ago. I made a wow to call at least one friend or extended family member each week on my way home from work. I don't use social media much, but sometimes I look at photos of my family and think, "if I posted this photo, no one would ever suspect that in the two hours before this my-sister-is-my-bestie shot, the girls were claiming they would never speak to each other again. I like seeing photos of people's lives, but I never take those photos as information about them. Plus, when I do know more about people because they're close friends, what I know never matches the images I see on FB. [ Reply | More
