So what exactly will be different come Monday in NYC when we begin Phase 1 of restoration? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Not much unless you are in construction or gardening but there is no phase 2,3 or 4 without the phase 1. [ Reply | More ]

Or if you have a boss who essentially thinks his employees are gullible or can't read or are just desperate enough to come in to work at a non-essential, Phase 2 business (yes, I looked up what the firm does on the state website, and we are by no means stage 1), and has been for weeks! (In essence, the employees have him by the b****, but he doesn't know it.) [ Reply | More ]

Retail - curbside pickup. This is kind of a big deal. Though I'm curious when stores will actually have any inventory. The stores I've walked past still have the same items and window displays that were in there in March. (Not to mention how much is boarded up now because of looting). [ Reply | More ]

How is this a big deal? Honestly. What is it that you want to buy that you are having trouble getting now? [ Reply | More ]

Me personally, nothing. By big deal, I meant of all of the industries opening this is the one that has the biggest consumer impact that we'll see. In NYC (especially in Manhattan) you don't really see Manufacturing or Agriculture first hand. [ Reply | More ]

honestly. you can order anything and everything online and have it in a day or 2. [ Reply | More ]

Correct. But by retail opening, that means a lot of people going back to work. This is a good thing, people - let's encourage it. [ Reply | More ]

And probably dusty, if not faded from being in the window. [ Reply | More ]

Just because a store has followed the rules and not done the (non-essential) work of adjusting their window display doesn't mean they don't have access to inventory. I've bought a number of things from local stores -- delivery only -- since they had to shut down, including books released since March. They're getting stuff. [ Reply | More ]

Will they open the tennis courts like they have in the rest of the state? It seems silly to keep them closed. [ Reply | More ]

If they do, then why can't they open ball fields? [ Reply | More ]

I agree. The reality is that tennis is played with the players at least 12 feet apart. Soccer, for example, is very different. [ Reply | More ]

Maybe proper games/scrimmages are out of the picture for the time being, but coaches can do drills that are distanced (not just soccer, but baseball and softball and other field sports). It's not always easy to do this in city parks (nor should balls be thrown around in crowded areas). [ Reply | More ]

yes, the ballfields being closed is really ticking me off. So kids can do sit inside at day camps, but no sports camp outside? Ok... [ Reply | More ]

Even beyond sports camps, why can't a parent and kids (who have been indoors with each other for 12 weeks) go out and play catch!? [ Reply | More ]

I think you'll see more people out and around though - a lot of people in the city work retail jobs. A lot more construction work too. So that might give the city a new energy. [ Reply | More ]

we are on Long Island which is already open for Phase I, as the other said: retail stores that were totally closed before will open but require curbside pickup, I saw that restaurants are open, but didn't see anyone sitting inside last time I was out. That's about it. Construction and landscaping has been going on [ Reply | More ]
