BC is a small LAC and BU is much larger. BC was considered a better school back in the day. Not sure about now. [ Reply | More ]

BC is also Jesuit, and just outside of Boston, so more of a campus-feel. BU is actually in the city proper. [ Reply | More ]

No it wasn’t— in 80s was a rock bottom safety for NY TT privates. A few had to apply but nobody ever actually had to go there. [ Reply | More ]

This in the 90s as well. It’s was 2nd tier back then. Not much of a campus but now difficult to get into just like Tufts. [ Reply | More ]

BC is considered a more competitive School now. BC is jesuit and BU has a strong Jewish community [ Reply | More ]

BU is much bigger, they are both pretty selective -- but BU has amazing merit aid for those that qualify. BC is quieter and more of a campus, BU is in the heart of the city. [ Reply | More ]

Agree. I got a sizable grant from BU (for law school, but still holds true). [ Reply | More ]

So did I! Loved my time there and even got married at the chapel. But when I was there BU was actually ranked higher than BC (20 at the time), though I'm not sure how they compare now bc I do remember that we dropped down after that. [ Reply | More ]

BC has a gorgeous campus and feels more like going to college, smallish liberal arts college. BU is urban and spread out like NYU. No campus at all. Both are good schools, but BC is ranked higher. [ Reply | More ]

doubt they are in the same ranking system since one is a LAC and the other a national university [ Reply | More ]

BC is not really a SLAC. It is big enough to have serious sports teams and play in the ACC. BU has a good hockey team and not much else. [ Reply | More ]

BC has the edge and once was considered a much better school. Fwiw, they are literally a mile apart on the same above ground “subway” line. BC is at the end of the line so has a campus. BU is built along both sides of the street a mile closer to Boston. [ Reply | More ]

Boston College is a preppier, frattier liberal arts school with serious sports teams in a campus-like setting right on the edge of the city. Stereotypical frat guy in a baseball hat driving an old Jeep with Nantucket beach stickers. Boston University is way more international students, larger research University in an urban setting in the city proper. Stereotypical foreign rich kid driving a Porsche and going to nightclubs. Both great schools. BU is hard to get into and BC is very, very hard (it's generally associated with Georgetown and Notre Dame as the "jesuit Ivys". BU better for comms, BC for most other majors. Very different feels (campus vs urban) [ Reply | More ]

Notre Dame is not Jesuit. Catholic Ivies: Georgtown, Notre Dame, then BC [ Reply | More ]
