Hey SAHMs: You are letting your DHs walk all over you!!! You job is to take care of DC and the house during working/business hours. In the morning, the evening, the night, and on weekends, all that stuff should be a more or less 50/50 split between you and DH! [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Maybe but I find things work better when I do them as opposed to DH, so I'd rather just do that. [ Reply | More ]

I guess not. I'm pretty happy with the ways things are and I've been doing it for 4 years now. [ Reply | More ]

I can get all the housework done while dh is at work. I don't need his help with that. But when he's home he does much more than 1/2 the childcare because he WANTS to. He misses them and spending time with them is good for him AND them. [ Reply | More ]

Except that dh has to get ready to go to work in the am, so how can I expect it to be 50/50 then? [ Reply | More ]

b/c it takes 2 minutes! It's more symbolic than anything else - you don't realize this? [ Reply | More ]

your child is rolling around in a shitty diaper, go change it. Or are you calling DH home for lunch to do this? [ Reply | More ]

I know! I can't believe that some DHs would make their DWs feel bad about a few hours or a few days of babysitting during the week. Doesn't DH take a lunch break or coffee break, or gym break at work? Of course they do! [ Reply | More ]

His job is not 24/7! If his job were, say, "running the family business from home," then yes I would help him. [ Reply | More ]

np: my dh's job is just that. I help him, he doesn't help me. It's been a problem, and we're working on it. I can't remember the last time he made dinner. [ Reply | More ]

dinner might be too big a project for him. Let him suggest some other things he can do. You're a team, so make him a full partner! (and please don't criticize the way he does things) [ Reply | More ]
