Design moms: I would like to have soapstone countertops in my kitchen. I have painted cabinets (BM White Dove), vintage looking hardware and a wood floor. I am also considering white subway tile. If I go with the tile, should I get a shiny or matte finish? Also, would you do a stainless sink or a white? TIA! [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

I like a stainless sink. Not sure how I feel about the white subway tile with the soapstone countertops. [ Reply | More ]

I have the same as you, and used pietra cardosa on the counters, like soapstone but a little tougher, and a stainless sink, which my designer highly recommended (inset, so edges don't show) for practical reasons. White subway tile, matte, would look nice, or you could go with a slight color (like I did with Anne Sacks and a blue tinted bisazza horizontal small tile) looks great. I even have white dove also.
