I wouldn't worry too much, my dc is 5 and can get pretty aggressive, and values her privacy. It's also very clear that she avoids me when she knows she's doing something wrong - she runs into the bedroom and slams the door, or hides; she admits when she's lied to me; etc. I wouldn't worry about the acting out, specifically, but I would address it with her and ask her why she's so angry. Maybe she has trouble expressing her feelings. (Mine certainly does. I've had to coach her!) [ Reply | More ]

Perfectly fine. She is learning to manage her aggressive impulses. All of us have them. Better to acknowledge them and learn to manage them than to pretend they don't exist. Don't shame her for them (not saying you have). The only think I would wonder is if there is something IRL that is bringing these to the fore now - although 3-4 is the age for these issues to arise in general. [ Reply | More ]

My dd started to close her door at that age - usually because she was up to something. I told her closing her door is not allowed. You should talk to her more about why she wants to hit her dolls - and why she doesn't want anyone to see. She is doing something that she is uncomfortable with so you should probe on why. Do you take her into a room and close the door for spankings? [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] KIDDING AROUND store on 15th street off of 6th ave. I go in there at least once a month and not once have they offered me their customer card (for repeat purchases that lead to a discount). I have stood on line and they ask the lady behind me if she has a store card..but they have never asked me. I was going to ask but then said let me see if this continues. I just went there this morning and the lady in front of me was buying something and they asked if she had a card. Then they got to me and they told me the total, asked if I wanted the gift wrapped and that was it. Now I'm annoyed. I know I could ask for them to give it to me but why are they not offering? I liked the head of school at trevor, calhoun, and trevor. The worst was collegiate. The best DOAs were dalton (yes, I liked babby) and trevor. The worst was ECFS, if for no other reason that they were so disorganized . . . not even sure I met the doa. The "toughest doa was collegiate (although I liked her). [ Reply | More ]

Got it. I met a few like that. I think that I prefer that to the overly obsequious ones who make you feel like you are in, whether or not they like you. [ Reply | More ]

Best DOA is Babby at Dalton. Runner up is Therese Cruite at Chapin. Best HOS? I don't know. But I like Ellen Stein and the HOS of CGPS and Calhoun. Didn't care for HOS at ECFS. Oh, I like the new HOS of Spence and Chapin as well. [ Reply | More ]

Rita at Fieldston Lower is the best DOA. And I loved the head master at CGPS. I credit him with taking a total bottom of the barrel school and making it a real contender. He is the brains behind the fundraising and capital changes that turned the school around. [ Reply | More ]

CGPS sells admissions to the highest bidder - that's the core of their capital campaign. I've lived on the same block for 15 years and know a number of teachers at the school. It used to be a low-key school, DCs were polite, and you actually saw them carrying school books. In the last 3 - 5 years, it's become all about the money - DDs wearing Prada and carrying Chanel bags, lines of SUVs to drop off HS students and books are only seen around exams. The teachers I know complain about the attitudes, both of the students and the parents. The Head just shrugs off the problems and tries to create a legacy of buildings (which the community board has gotten tired of - 2 building plans shot down in 4 years). [ Reply | More ]

Not in my opinion. Two bottles 6 nights a week yeah! Depends how long it takes you to drink them too. Some cultures view this differently as well. I guess it all depends on how you feel. [ Reply | More ]
