Possible ignorant question alert: are you guys nervous your kids are going to carry the virus home if they go back in the fall? Or does having them go outweigh that? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

The death rate is less than 1%. Not much different from flu. People get sick, people die. No one lives forever [ Reply | More ]

Much much different than the flu. How many people have you heard of dying from the flu, that you know? Me? None. I know two people who have gotten sick enough to be hospitalized with the flu. But I can name at least 10 people who died from covid - not all elderly and frail. [ Reply | More ]

Oh Jesus, why lie like the fraudster in chief? The avg flu season is 25-75k deaths. We reached almost 130k deaths in 4 months. COVID-19 is also leaving many people w last health Issues. That is not the case w the flu. To compare the two is being willfully obtuse. [ Reply | More ]

Last Thursday, the Chancellor met with principals across the city to update them on fall re-opening planning, and shared a presentation. In that presentation it stated that application for students who will be fully remote will go out over the summer. [ Reply | More ]

I'm nervous but what's the other option? Stay home until the miracle vaccine comes to save us all? You know there may NEVER be a good vaccine for Covid, right? At some point we have to live our lives again and move beyond what has become an irrational fear. Sending kids to school is far, far more important than going to a restaurant or salon. I'm happy to forgo those things to lower the odds of getting ill, but my kids will go back to school. [ Reply | More ]

"what's the other option? Stay home until the miracle vaccine comes to save us all?" Theres a middle ground. They may have a vaccine by the end of the year. Waiting until then could save a lot of lives. No, we cant wait undefinitely, but if a vaccine is testing wel by the fall, delaying in-person schooling for 3-4 months would be worth it [ Reply | More ]

Yup. This is what will happen. They will go back on some ridiculous staggered schedule. After a month, there will be an outbreak, and they shut it down for 2-3 weeks. By spring next year there may be a vaccine, which will lhelp [ Reply | More ]
