Just coming here to say that I for sure would have botched the preschool application process without urbanbaby. I'll miss this place. What's the most helpful advice you ever got here? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Honestly, I think I would be better off if I never found this site. It made me care too much about the wrong things re: private schools [ Reply | More ]

It happened recently. In adjusting to my aging face, a UBers words about how you get the face you deserve was eating at my ability to age gracefully. Here's what a kind, lovely woman said to me: That person was not a plastic surgeon. As we age our skin loses collagen, and exposure to the sun without a broad spectrum sunscreen depletes collagen more rapidly. It happens to everyone...unless they are going the full Cher route and having their face treated aggressively. You 11s are because you thought..there's nothing wrong with that. Your folds are because you've lived a life...there's nothing wrong with that. Let's stop the f*ck beating up ourselves cause we've lived. A perfectly smooth face comes with youth, but with youth also comes lack of life experience. Your face isn't your hair shirt, your face is your masterpiece. [ Reply | More ]

OP: we're the opposite of most UB posters in that we went to a "lesser" preschool. Someone had a thread talking about off the radar, more affordable preschools. We ended up at St Joseph's Yorkville which was so warm and sweet and yet had the more academic stuff that my kid craved. It was the perfect place for us and I would have never found it otherwise. He's at a really great public gifted program now. I feel like UB gets so much grief for talk about exclusive private schools, but in reality all types of parents are lurking here and most are really really helpful. [ Reply | More ]

I got great advice about a relationship that was doomed to fail due to a huge age difference and the fact that he was a total dick, which my 23 year-old self did not see. I am happy to say I am now married to an age-appropriate, fantastic, some might even say "TT" DH [ Reply | More ]
