I signed ds up for a 2 week science course on zoom. He’s really enjoying it, but seeing how well the class is conducted makes me really resentful of the ‘online learning’ he got from his elementary school - one hour of zoom per week and 20 minute daily assignments cribbed from scholastic w minimal feedback. I know nothing is going to change, but how do I get over these feelings? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

I think it means that if you want quality remote instruction, you have to pay for it. [ Reply | More ]

CTD course at northwestern - there’s robust discussion, the kids are smart and asking interesting questions, the teacher is fun but firm, they’re using a college level textbook which actually challenges him, they do experiments together (supplies were mailed to us a month ago), they have homework which is interesting and which gets reviewed, and he really looks forward to it...it’s hands down awesome. What grade? Would you mind specifying what class? I have a rising 5th grader who would probably love a class like this. [ Reply | More ]

My kids are doing hollingworth and it starts next week. They appear to have a lot of thought into planning their online offering and my kids are looking forward to it. [ Reply | More ]

Think about how much you are paying for it? I assume dc goes to public school? [ Reply | More ]

Women on here love to slam paying for remote learning at private, but my dd at private had a much better distance learning curriculum than my ds at a public. You get what you pay for. [ Reply | More ]
