DC is having minor surgery tomorrow. I’m not especially nervous about the procedure but don’t love the idea of general anesthesia and the covid risk of being in a hospital. Has anyone had outpatient surgery in nyc recently? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Not surgery, but I take dh to a cancer clinic every 2 weeks. Hospitals are on top of this and working hard to prevent spread. They screen everyone, require masks and limit access. Dc will be fine. [ Reply | More ]

I am having a colonoscopy tomorrow (but not in NYC). They are going to test me for COVID before the procedure, as they do with every single patient who comes in. [ Reply | More ]

My dh did - but it was at a surgery center not a hospital. It was empty and their procedures made me feel safe. But I couldn't stay there and it felt weird running errands while waiting for the doctor to cal. [ Reply | More ]

dh was in the hospital recently at Weill Cornell for 3 days for IV antibiotics. They tested him for Covid before transferring from ER to regular floor. I was also worried about Covid as he was there for 3 days, refused to wear a mask and take any precautions, in a shared room. Its been 3 weeks since his admission, and we are fine. But it was a hell of 2 weeks post admission worrying about transmission to myself and DC as we were together in an apartment. They should test for Covid at point of discharge as well. I nearly lost my sanity.Good luck. [ Reply | More ]

Yes, DH did general anesthesia surgery (but went home day of surgery) at the beginning of June. Everything went fine. I dropped him off at the door, and the nurse brought him back to our car on the sidewalk, so I never went in. [ Reply | More ]
