i work for a large health care system that saw a ton of covid patients. they have found through antibody testing that the rate of covid infection was no higher thank the general population. this is thousands of people doing high risk procedures everyday with covid patients. if the hospitals can figure it out i think there is zero excuse to not open schools. Do teachers sterilize and suit up before class? And supposedly not every COVID patient has antibodies. [ Reply | More ]

So students and teachers should be in full PPE every day? I don't see it happening. [ Reply | More ]

right? It's good that the workers in the hospital weren't infected at greater rates, but I don't see how it's relevant to schools. Healthcare workers have full PPE, they are also trained to use it properly. You think it's going to be the same with a 6 yo who can't stop fiddling with his mask? [ Reply | More ]

No shit. OP is smoking something. Most kids won't even wear masks the entire day for several hours. It's hard for adults to do it. [ Reply | More ]

What is the rate? I've seen everything from 2% to 28% for general population. [ Reply | More ]

Testing is so unreliable. I had active covid and got 2 negative PCRs. Tested positive for antibodies after 45 days. Others I know from my hospital had positive PCRs and now negative for antibodies. We just don't know enough. [ Reply | More ]

I think some people get the virus and others don't. We just don't know why. Blood type appears to be the tip of the iceberg here. [ Reply | More ]

There are healthcare workers saying they still don't have enough PPE and you think school staff is going to get it?! [ Reply | More ]
