Still uncertain as to whether staff will be in and out, or in full-time. My principal just said that those with documented health issues should begin preparing paperwork to do so. [ Reply | More ]

yeah really. My husband is a doctor and is being asked to write excuse notes by all his patients. Some of them are a bit far out. [ Reply | More ]

do you know how many people are just obese / diabetic / heart problems and now at incredible risk? You don't know the half of it. This is the majority of his patient population. [ Reply | More ]

Soon. Principal called an emergency meeting with us at 2 today because she didn't want us to hear on the news or from someone else. That said, maybe they'll wait until the plan is more fleshed out. [ Reply | More ]

I'm just relieved there is going to be SOME kind of in person learning happening. Sucks because we have two kids and have no choice but to commute by subway to/from school, so not sure if our risk is lessened in any way. [ Reply | More ]

Our principal reported this at a family meeting, but said any family that is not comfortable sending a child to school will have the option of 100% remote learning. No one will be required to go in person. [ Reply | More ]

Confirmed, or just proposed? Our principal shared that there were 4 models of blended learning being weighed, but there has still been no official mandate from the Governor about whether we will be cleared to open. [ Reply | More ]

how can they possibly guarantee that. It's up to DeBlas and ultimately Cuomo on a county by county basis. I fear that there will be an uptick as the rules loosen. The summer will be very telling. [ Reply | More ]

I posted the same above... the DOE supposedly came up with four different models of blended learning for fall, but all scenarios are based on the clearance to go back at all. [ Reply | More ]

Saw a PPT from central. 3 models- every other day, every other week, or one of the above with a 3rd grouping of students learning remotely FT (i assume this is for immunocompromised). Our school is due to get a specific report tomorrow based on our population and building of how many people can be in the building and in each room at once. There was a lot of concern regarding ICT classes and paras but nothing resolved. No movement in schools- to cafeteria, recess, cluster classes. We didn't get any answers about staff schedules but seems like we'll be in FT. [ Reply | More ]

OP- this is confusing to me too. Because if we as teachers are also supposed to be conducting the online learning, our workload is doubled. One administrator at my school said she believed there are going to be cameras and the kids at home would be following along in real time. She has a tendency to speak without knowing though, and this seems like it would be a technological impossibility for the DOE. It also just wouldn't work at all considering how dependant most of my (elementary) teaching is on interaction, shared responsibilities, etc. [ Reply | More ]

The use of the word "confirmed" is super misleading. There MAY be blended learning, there MAY be a late or rolling start date, there MAY be split schedules. Nothing is decided. [ Reply | More ]

of course it will be blended - because some people won't be able to go back even if it's open fulltime and so they need to incorporate remote into it. It doesn't mean that fulltime school won't happen. [ Reply | More ]
