NP: Can we also stop angrily calling everyone a "troll" and flagging posts, instead of educating people? I'm personally trying to be more conscious of using ableist language, and recognizing that words like "crazy" and "insane" are insulting to those with mental health issues. I'm not opposed to educating people - especially around thoughtful language use, although a poster determined to find a mean label for women who are concerned about COVID is not likely to be amenable to the teaching you offer. You are taking your anger about this difficult and stressful time out on an anonymous person by name-calling. You point out that you dont have the luxury of keeping your child home when you feel its unsafe, because you need to earn a living. You are not alone with that issue. There are many perspectives to consider. Thank you for pointing that out. I think a lot of people, perhaps in stress, don't stop to consider that there are so many variables to balance out. I feel like this site has taken on a more sensitive tone, and I noticed it on our school mom site recently too. Sounds like it's about time. That being said, I don't think it's mean to give nicknames here, as long as the person isn't made fun of. Some people go by their nickname, like "ER mom" or "Ob/gyn resident".
