Are you a little sad about young kids , say 3 to 7 , in masks back at school? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Not if they are back, and can socialize and have recess! Kids are adaptive, and masks are just another accessory. [ Reply | More ]

This. I'm much more sad about my 6 year old not having seen/interacted with any kids (aside from older bro) for 3+ months, missing her teacher and missing being independent. She loves wearing her mask out for walks and in stores, and we have some new Disney masks on order. [ Reply | More ]

I just want my kids in school. They are so sad now, I think they'd be thrilled to wear a mask if it means they can be in a classroom again. [ Reply | More ]

Mine too. Only child. She’d wear a hazmat suit if she had to. [ Reply | More ]

No, I feel sad for the older kids. Prime of their lives. Academics are a waste. College non-existent. No social life, dating, sports, clubs. [ Reply | More ]

DC (almost 6) doesn’t mind the masks but he talks a lot about going places and doing things that he used to do before. Travel, swimming, play dates. [ Reply | More ]

My weirdo daughter is desperate to wear her masks. She’s into accessories of any kind. I made a bunch and got a bunch from Etsy. Our school has a contingent of parents who are 100% against masks and my daughter is definitely going to wear hers anyway they’re not required in the fall. One valid anti-mask concern that a parent raised and that I stupidly hadn’t considered is that it will be hard to kids to hear each other, and kids with hearing impairments will struggle to supplement their hearing loss with lip reading if that’s a strategy they rely on. Mine too! She loves her masks. She's also into doing the right thing and if a mask will protect someone else from getting sick, she's all into it. [ Reply | More ]

I have had several family members comment that they think no school is better then school with masks and precautions. None of these people have school aged kids. I just don't get it. My 6yo needs social interaction and I need to work. Something is better then nothing. Sure - I would prefer that none of this ever happened. But it did and now we all must do what we have to do.
