If you and dh work outside the home, what do your middle or high school dcs do all summer (in non pandemic times)? Getting divorced and not sure how to plan for this- dcs are elementary age now. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Not a lot. Camp counselor at a day camp for 2 weeks. We usually travel for 1-2 weeks. Too young for a real job. [ Reply | More

Overnight camp is good until at least 15, especially the more adventurous camps. Then they can be counselors for younger kids if they are interested in that sort of thing (or even junior counselors at day camp). Jobs like a lifeguard or snack bar worker at the town pool. College prep/leadership programs or teen programs in an area they are interested in: writing, filmmaking, acting, sciences. Hanging out with friends. [ Reply | More

DC has always done some sort of camp program, film or coding or science. Also worked in DH's office for a few weeks, doing inventory and stuff in a warehouse, DC is extremely detail oriented and organized so it was a good fit. [ Reply | More
