Has anyone here handled a trust ? Did the attorney who created it keep tabs on the trust or check in on you ? My aunt is executor of my grandmother's trust and in one year we have heard nothing even though we are also beneficiaries....lawyer says she is no longer involved [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Do the terms of the trust entitle you to any specific, scheduled reports? Or to info upon request? Either way, you need to ask your aunt, the executor, for the info to which you are entitled by a date certain, in a polite but firm letter, send it the old fashioned way, certified or registered mail, return receipt requested. Keep copy of letter and all receipts. If no satisfactory response, hire a lawyer to explain your rights and assist you in enforcing them. [ Reply | More ]

Executor generally has the right to hire/ fire lawyer for the trust, if fired, the lawyer who set it up would have no further involvement. But you could call and ask, if she was fired, she may be able to tell you to whom she sent the files. [ Reply | More ]
