Renting house this summer in CT. Owner plans to disinfect house (hired a company) with chlorine dioxide before we move in. I did some research. It's EPA approved but I'm still not sure which is worse: Covid or the toxic chemicals? WWYD? It's our choice [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

How old are your DCs? Are they likely to lick and the walls and the floors? As long as you don't move in within minutes of the chorine dioxide treatment, I'd think it would be fine. [ Reply | More ]

One teenager plus a dog. We'd move in the following day. Just hard to know if we're trading one threat (virus) for another (exposure to toxins). [ Reply | More ]

toxic chemicals are worse. there is no evidence that you can contract covid from a surface. Even if it can live on surfaces, it isn't potent enough to get you sick. [ Reply | More ]

I would tell them to skip it, and move in a couple of days after I’m supposed to. [ Reply | More ]

That sounds really unnecessary. They should just do a regular cleaning. For extra precaution, you could leave the house empty for a day or so and/or wipe down surfaces like knobs and switches an extra time. [ Reply | More ]

Just give it 3 or 4 days before moving in. Ridiculous to have it sprayed. [ Reply | More ]

I would accept this offer and still wait a day or two after the owner does it. The chemicals have a short half life, and you'll know that everything is clean. [ Reply | More ]

I don’t think you need chemicals. Just let house sit empty 72 hours before you walk in [ Reply | More ]

Toxic chemicals are worse, Ironic how all the organic, environmentally-conscious mommies all went crazy with the Lysol wipes these past two months. [ Reply | More ]
